Ayah 1 Play Ayah
الٓرۚ alif-lam-raAlif Lam Raكِتَٰبٌ kitabun(This is) a Bookأُحۡكِمَتۡ uh'kimatare perfectedءَايَٰتُهُۥ ayatuhuits Versesثُمَّ thummamoreoverفُصِّلَتۡ fussilatexplained in detailمِن minfromلَّدُنۡ ladunthe One Whoحَكِيمٍ hakimin(is) All-Wiseخَبِيرٍ khabirinAll-Awareﰀ
TRANSLITERATION
alif-lam-ra kitabun uh'kimat ayatuhu thumma fussilat min ladun hakimin khabirin
English - Sahih International
Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from [one who is] Wise and Acquainted.
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
أَلَّا allaThat Notتَعۡبُدُوٓاْ ta'buduyou worshipإِلَّا illabutٱللَّهَۚ al-lahaAllahإِنَّنِي innaniIndeed I amلَكُم lakumto youمِّنۡهُ min'hufrom Himنَذِيرٞ nadhiruna warnerوَبَشِيرٞ wabashirunand a bearer of glad tidingsﰁ
TRANSLITERATION
alla ta'budu illa al-laha innani lakum min'hu nadhirun wabashirun
English - Sahih International
[Through a messenger, saying], "Do not worship except Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a warner and a bringer of good tidings,"
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
وَأَنِ wa-aniAnd thatٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ is'taghfiruSeek forgivenessرَبَّكُمۡ rabbakum(of) your Lordثُمَّ thummaandتُوبُوٓاْ tubuturn in repentanceإِلَيۡهِ ilayhito Himيُمَتِّعۡكُم yumatti'kumHe will let youمَّتَٰعًا mata'anenjoyحَسَنًا hasanana goodإِلَىٰٓ ilaforأَجَلٖ ajalina termمُّسَمّٗى musammanappointedوَيُؤۡتِ wayu'tiAnd giveكُلَّ kulla(to) everyذِي dhiownerفَضۡلٖ fadlin(of) graceفَضۡلَهُۥۖ fadlahuHis Graceوَإِن wa-inBut ifتَوَلَّوۡاْ tawallawyou turn awayفَإِنِّيٓ fa-innithen indeed, Iأَخَافُ akhafufearعَلَيۡكُمۡ alaykumfor youعَذَابَ adhaba(the) punishmentيَوۡمٖ yawmin(of) a Great Dayكَبِيرٍ kabirin(of) a Great Dayﰂ
TRANSLITERATION
wa-ani is'taghfiru rabbakum thumma tubu ilayhi yumatti'kum mata'an hasanan ila ajalin musamman wayu'ti kulla dhi fadlin fadlahu wa-in tawallaw fa-inni akhafu alaykum adhaba yawmin kabirin
English - Sahih International
And [saying], "Seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, [and] He will let you enjoy a good provision for a specified term and give every doer of favor his favor. But if you turn away, then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great Day.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
إِلَى ilaToٱللَّهِ al-lahiAllahمَرۡجِعُكُمۡۖ marji'ukum(is) your returnوَهُوَ wahuwaand Heعَلَىٰ ala(is) onكُلِّ kullieveryشَيۡءٖ shayinthingقَدِيرٌ qadirunAll-Powerfulﰃ
TRANSLITERATION
ila al-lahi marji'ukum wahuwa ala kulli shayin qadirun
English - Sahih International
To Allah is your return, and He is over all things competent."
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
أَلَآ alaNo doubt!إِنَّهُمۡ innahumTheyيَثۡنُونَ yathnunafold upصُدُورَهُمۡ sudurahumtheir breastsلِيَسۡتَخۡفُواْ liyastakhfuthat they may hideمِنۡهُۚ min'hufrom Himأَلَا alaSurelyحِينَ hinawhenيَسۡتَغۡشُونَ yastaghshunathey cover (themselves)ثِيَابَهُمۡ thiyabahum(with) their garmentsيَعۡلَمُ ya'lamuHe knowsمَا mawhatيُسِرُّونَ yusirrunathey concealوَمَا wamaand whatيُعۡلِنُونَۚ yu'linunathey revealإِنَّهُۥ innahuIndeed Heعَلِيمُۢ alimun(is) All-Knowerبِذَاتِ bidhatiof whatٱلصُّدُورِ al-suduri(is in) the breastsﰄ
TRANSLITERATION
ala innahum yathnuna sudurahum liyastakhfu min'hu ala hina yastaghshuna thiyabahum ya'lamu ma yusirruna wama yu'linuna innahu alimun bidhati al-suduri
English - Sahih International
Unquestionably, they the disbelievers turn away their breasts to hide themselves from Him. Unquestionably, [even] when they cover themselves in their clothing, Allah knows what they conceal and what they declare. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

Ayah 6 Play Ayah
۞وَمَا wamaAnd notمِن minanyدَآبَّةٖ dabbatinmoving creatureفِي fiinٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardithe earthإِلَّا illabutعَلَى alaonٱللَّهِ al-lahiAllahرِزۡقُهَا riz'quha(is) its provisionوَيَعۡلَمُ waya'lamuAnd He knowsمُسۡتَقَرَّهَا mus'taqarrahaits dwelling placeوَمُسۡتَوۡدَعَهَاۚ wamus'tawda'ahaand its place of storageكُلّٞ kullunAllفِي fi(is) inكِتَٰبٖ kitabina Recordمُّبِينٖ mubininclearﰅ
TRANSLITERATION
wama min dabbatin fi al-ardi illa ala al-lahi riz'quha waya'lamu mus'taqarraha wamus'tawda'aha kullun fi kitabin mubinin
English - Sahih International
And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage. All is in a clear register.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
وَهُوَ wahuwaAnd Heٱلَّذِي alladhi(is) the One Whoخَلَقَ khalaqacreatedٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ al-samawatithe heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضَ wal-ardaand the earthفِي fiinسِتَّةِ sittatisixأَيَّامٖ ayyaminepochsوَكَانَ wakanaand His throne wasعَرۡشُهُۥ arshuhuand His throne wasعَلَى alaonٱلۡمَآءِ al-maithe waterلِيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ liyabluwakumthat He might test [you]أَيُّكُمۡ ayyukumwhich of youأَحۡسَنُ ahsanu(is) bestعَمَلٗاۗ amalan(in) deedوَلَئِن wala-inBut ifقُلۡتَ qul'tayou sayإِنَّكُم innakumIndeed, youمَّبۡعُوثُونَ mab'uthuna(will be) resurrectedمِنۢ minafterبَعۡدِ ba'diafterٱلۡمَوۡتِ al-mawti[the] deathلَيَقُولَنَّ layaqulannasurely would sayٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoكَفَرُوٓاْ kafarudisbelievedإِنۡ inThis is notهَٰذَآ hadhaThis is notإِلَّا illabutسِحۡرٞ sih'runa magicمُّبِينٞ mubinunclearﰆ
TRANSLITERATION
wahuwa alladhi khalaqa al-samawati wal-arda fi sittati ayyamin wakana arshuhu ala al-mai liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu amalan wala-in qul'ta innakum mab'uthuna min ba'di al-mawti layaqulanna alladhina kafaru in hadha illa sih'run mubinun
English - Sahih International
And it is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days - and His Throne had been upon water - that He might test you as to which of you is best in deed. But if you say, "Indeed, you are resurrected after death," those who disbelieve will surely say, "This is not but obvious magic."
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
وَلَئِنۡ wala-inAnd ifأَخَّرۡنَا akharnaWe delayعَنۡهُمُ anhumufrom themٱلۡعَذَابَ al-'adhabathe punishmentإِلَىٰٓ ilaforأُمَّةٖ ummatina timeمَّعۡدُودَةٖ ma'dudatindeterminedلَّيَقُولُنَّ layaqulunnathey will surely sayمَا maWhatيَحۡبِسُهُۥٓۗ yahbisuhudetains itأَلَا alaNo doubtيَوۡمَ yawma(On) the Dayيَأۡتِيهِمۡ yatihimit comes to themلَيۡسَ laysanotمَصۡرُوفًا masrufan(will be) avertedعَنۡهُمۡ anhumfrom themوَحَاقَ wahaqaand will surroundبِهِم bihimthemمَّا mawhatكَانُواْ kanuthey used (to)بِهِۦ bihimock at [it]يَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ yastahziunamock at [it]ﰇ
TRANSLITERATION
wala-in akharna anhumu al-'adhaba ila ummatin ma'dudatin layaqulunna ma yahbisuhu ala yawma yatihim laysa masrufan anhum wahaqa bihim ma kanu bihi yastahziuna
English - Sahih International
And if We hold back from them the punishment for a limited time, they will surely say, "What detains it?" Unquestionably, on the Day it comes to them, it will not be averted from them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
وَلَئِنۡ wala-inAnd ifأَذَقۡنَا adhaqnaWe give man a tasteٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ al-insanaWe give man a tasteمِنَّا minna(of) Mercy from Usرَحۡمَةٗ rahmatan(of) Mercy from Usثُمَّ thummathenنَزَعۡنَٰهَا naza'nahaWe withdraw itمِنۡهُ min'hufrom himإِنَّهُۥ innahuindeed, heلَيَـُٔوسٞ layausun(is) despairingكَفُورٞ kafurun(and) ungratefulﰈ
TRANSLITERATION
wala-in adhaqna al-insana minna rahmatan thumma naza'naha min'hu innahu layausun kafurun
English - Sahih International
And if We give man a taste of mercy from Us and then We withdraw it from him, indeed, he is despairing and ungrateful.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
وَلَئِنۡ wala-inBut ifأَذَقۡنَٰهُ adhaqnahuWe give him a tasteنَعۡمَآءَ na'maa(of) favorبَعۡدَ ba'daafterضَرَّآءَ darraahardshipمَسَّتۡهُ massathu(has) touched himلَيَقُولَنَّ layaqulannasurely he will sayذَهَبَ dhahabaHave goneٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتُ al-sayiatuthe evilsعَنِّيٓۚ annifrom meإِنَّهُۥ innahuIndeed heلَفَرِحٞ lafarihun(is) exultantفَخُورٌ fakhurun(and) boastfulﰉ
TRANSLITERATION
wala-in adhaqnahu na'maa ba'da darraa massathu layaqulanna dhahaba al-sayiatu anni innahu lafarihun fakhurun
English - Sahih International
But if We give him a taste of favor after hardship has touched him, he will surely say, "Bad times have left me." Indeed, he is exultant and boastful -
