Ayah 1 Play Ayah
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuhaO (Prophet)ٱلنَّبِيُّ al-nabiyu(O) Prophetٱتَّقِ ittaqiFearٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahوَلَا walaand (do) notتُطِعِ tuti'iobeyٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ al-kafirinathe disbelieversوَٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَۚ wal-munafiqinaand the hypocritesإِنَّ innaIndeedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahكَانَ kanaisعَلِيمًا alimanAll-Knowerحَكِيمٗا hakimanAll-Wise
TRANSLITERATION
yaayyuha al-nabiyu ittaqi al-laha wala tuti'i al-kafirina wal-munafiqina inna al-laha kana aliman hakiman
English - Sahih International
O Prophet, fear Allah and do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
وَٱتَّبِعۡ wa-ittabi'And followمَا mawhatيُوحَىٰٓ yuhais inspiredإِلَيۡكَ ilaykato youمِن minfromرَّبِّكَۚ rabbikayour Lordإِنَّ innaIndeedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahكَانَ kanaisبِمَا bimaof whatتَعۡمَلُونَ ta'malunayou doخَبِيرٗا khabiranAll-Aware
TRANSLITERATION
wa-ittabi' ma yuha ilayka min rabbika inna al-laha kana bima ta'maluna khabiran
English - Sahih International
And follow that which is revealed to you from your Lord. Indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
وَتَوَكَّلۡ watawakkalAnd put your trustعَلَى alainٱللَّهِۚ al-lahiAllahوَكَفَىٰ wakafaAnd Allah is sufficientبِٱللَّهِ bil-lahiAnd Allah is sufficientوَكِيلٗا wakilan(as) Disposer of affairs
TRANSLITERATION
watawakkal ala al-lahi wakafa bil-lahi wakilan
English - Sahih International
And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
مَّا maNotجَعَلَ ja'alaAllah (has) madeٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllah (has) madeلِرَجُلٖ lirajulinfor any manمِّن min[of]قَلۡبَيۡنِ qalbaynitwo heartsفِي fiinجَوۡفِهِۦۚ jawfihihis interiorوَمَا wamaAnd notجَعَلَ ja'alaHe (has) madeأَزۡوَٰجَكُمُ azwajakumuyour wivesٱلَّـٰٓـِٔي allaiwhomتُظَٰهِرُونَ tuzahirunayou declare unlawfulمِنۡهُنَّ min'hunna[of them]أُمَّهَٰتِكُمۡۚ ummahatikum(as) your mothersوَمَا wamaAnd notجَعَلَ ja'alaHe has madeأَدۡعِيَآءَكُمۡ ad'iyaakumyour adopted sonsأَبۡنَآءَكُمۡۚ abnaakumyour sonsذَٰلِكُمۡ dhalikumThatقَوۡلُكُم qawlukum(is) your sayingبِأَفۡوَٰهِكُمۡۖ bi-afwahikumby your mouthsوَٱللَّهُ wal-lahubut Allahيَقُولُ yaqulusaysٱلۡحَقَّ al-haqathe truthوَهُوَ wahuwaand Heيَهۡدِي yahdiguidesٱلسَّبِيلَ al-sabila(to) the Way
TRANSLITERATION
ma ja'ala al-lahu lirajulin min qalbayni fi jawfihi wama ja'ala azwajakumu allai tuzahiruna min'hunna ummahatikum wama ja'ala ad'iyaakum abnaakum dhalikum qawlukum bi-afwahikum wal-lahu yaqulu al-haqa wahuwa yahdi al-sabila
English - Sahih International
Allah has not made for a man two hearts in his interior. And He has not made your wives whom you declare unlawful your mothers. And he has not made your adopted sons your [true] sons. That is [merely] your saying by your mouths, but Allah says the truth, and He guides to the [right] way.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
ٱدۡعُوهُمۡ id'uhumCall themلِأٓبَآئِهِمۡ liabaihimby their fathersهُوَ huwaitأَقۡسَطُ aqsatu(is) more justعِندَ indanearٱللَّهِۚ al-lahiAllahفَإِن fa-inBut ifلَّمۡ lamnotتَعۡلَمُوٓاْ ta'lamuyou knowءَابَآءَهُمۡ abaahumtheir fathersفَإِخۡوَٰنُكُمۡ fa-ikh'wanukumthen (they are) your brothersفِي fiinٱلدِّينِ al-dini[the] religionوَمَوَٰلِيكُمۡۚ wamawalikumand your friendsوَلَيۡسَ walaysaBut not isعَلَيۡكُمۡ alaykumupon youجُنَاحٞ junahunany blameفِيمَآ fimain whatأَخۡطَأۡتُم akhtatumyou made a mistakeبِهِۦ bihiin itوَلَٰكِن walakinbutمَّا mawhatتَعَمَّدَتۡ ta'ammadatintendedقُلُوبُكُمۡۚ qulubukumyour heartsوَكَانَ wakanaAnd Allahٱللَّهُ al-lahuAnd Allahغَفُورٗا ghafuran(is) Oft-Forgivingرَّحِيمًا rahimanMost Merciful
TRANSLITERATION
id'uhum liabaihim huwa aqsatu inda al-lahi fa-in lam ta'lamu abaahum fa-ikh'wanukum fi al-dini wamawalikum walaysa alaykum junahun fima akhtatum bihi walakin ma ta'ammadat qulubukum wakana al-lahu ghafuran rahiman
English - Sahih International
Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah. But if you do not know their fathers - then they are [still] your brothers in religion and those entrusted to you. And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred but [only for] what your hearts intended. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
ٱلنَّبِيُّ al-nabiyuThe Prophetأَوۡلَىٰ awla(is) closerبِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ bil-mu'mininato the believersمِنۡ minthanأَنفُسِهِمۡۖ anfusihimtheir own selvesوَأَزۡوَٰجُهُۥٓ wa-azwajuhuand his wivesأُمَّهَٰتُهُمۡۗ ummahatuhum(are) their mothersوَأُوْلُواْ wa-uluAnd possessorsٱلۡأَرۡحَامِ al-arhami(of) relationshipsبَعۡضُهُمۡ ba'duhumsome of themأَوۡلَىٰ awla(are) closerبِبَعۡضٖ biba'dinto anotherفِي fiinكِتَٰبِ kitabi(the) Decreeٱللَّهِ al-lahi(of) Allahمِنَ minathanٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ al-mu'mininathe believersوَٱلۡمُهَٰجِرِينَ wal-muhajirinaand the emigrantsإِلَّآ illaexceptأَن anthatتَفۡعَلُوٓاْ taf 'aluyou doإِلَىٰٓ ilatoأَوۡلِيَآئِكُم awliyaikumyour friendsمَّعۡرُوفٗاۚ ma'rufana kindnessكَانَ kanaThat isذَٰلِكَ dhalikaThat isفِي fiinٱلۡكِتَٰبِ al-kitabithe Bookمَسۡطُورٗا masturanwritten
TRANSLITERATION
al-nabiyu awla bil-mu'minina min anfusihim wa-azwajuhu ummahatuhum wa-ulu al-arhami ba'duhum awla biba'din fi kitabi al-lahi mina al-mu'minina wal-muhajirina illa an taf 'alu ila awliyaikum ma'rufan kana dhalika fi al-kitabi masturan
English - Sahih International
The Prophet is more worthy of the believers than themselves, and his wives are [in the position of] their mothers. And those of [blood] relationship are more entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allah than the [other] believers and the emigrants, except that you may do to your close associates a kindness [through bequest]. That was in the Book inscribed.

Ayah 7 Play Ayah
وَإِذۡ wa-idhAnd whenأَخَذۡنَا akhadhnaWe tookمِنَ minafromٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ al-nabiyinathe Prophetsمِيثَٰقَهُمۡ mithaqahumtheir Covenantوَمِنكَ waminkaand from youوَمِن waminand fromنُّوحٖ nuhinNuhوَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ wa-ib'rahimaand Ibrahimوَمُوسَىٰ wamusaand Musaوَعِيسَى wa'isaand Isaٱبۡنِ ib'nisonمَرۡيَمَۖ maryama(of) Maryamوَأَخَذۡنَا wa-akhadhnaAnd We tookمِنۡهُم min'humfrom themمِّيثَٰقًا mithaqana covenantغَلِيظٗا ghalizanstrong
TRANSLITERATION
wa-idh akhadhna mina al-nabiyina mithaqahum waminka wamin nuhin wa-ib'rahima wamusa wa'isa ib'ni maryama wa-akhadhna min'hum mithaqan ghalizan
English - Sahih International
And [mention, O Muhammad], when We took from the prophets their covenant and from you and from Noah and Abraham and Moses and Jesus, the son of Mary; and We took from them a solemn covenant.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
لِّيَسۡـَٔلَ liyasalaThat He may askٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ al-sadiqinathe truthfulعَن anaboutصِدۡقِهِمۡۚ sid'qihimtheir truthوَأَعَدَّ wa-a'addaAnd He has preparedلِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ lil'kafirinafor the disbelieversعَذَابًا adhabana punishmentأَلِيمٗا alimanpainful
TRANSLITERATION
liyasala al-sadiqina an sid'qihim wa-a'adda lil'kafirina adhaban aliman
English - Sahih International
That He may question the truthful about their truth. And He has prepared for the disbelievers a painful punishment.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuhaO youٱلَّذِينَ alladhinawhoءَامَنُواْ amanubelieveٱذۡكُرُواْ udh'kuruRememberنِعۡمَةَ ni'mata(the) Favorٱللَّهِ al-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيۡكُمۡ alaykumupon youإِذۡ idhwhenجَآءَتۡكُمۡ jaatkumcame to youجُنُودٞ junudun(the) hostsفَأَرۡسَلۡنَا fa-arsalnaand We sentعَلَيۡهِمۡ alayhimupon themرِيحٗا rihana windوَجُنُودٗا wajunudanand hostsلَّمۡ lamnotتَرَوۡهَاۚ tarawhayou (could) see themوَكَانَ wakanaAnd Allah isٱللَّهُ al-lahuAnd Allah isبِمَا bimaof whatتَعۡمَلُونَ ta'malunayou doبَصِيرًا basiranAll-Seer
TRANSLITERATION
yaayyuha alladhina amanu udh'kuru ni'mata al-lahi alaykum idh jaatkum junudun fa-arsalna alayhim rihan wajunudan lam tarawha wakana al-lahu bima ta'maluna basiran
English - Sahih International
O you who have believed, remember the favor of Allah upon you when armies came to [attack] you and We sent upon them a wind and armies [of angels] you did not see. And ever is Allah, of what you do, Seeing.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
إِذۡ idhWhenجَآءُوكُم jaukumthey came upon youمِّن minfromفَوۡقِكُمۡ fawqikumabove youوَمِنۡ waminand fromأَسۡفَلَ asfalabelowمِنكُمۡ minkumyouوَإِذۡ wa-idhand whenزَاغَتِ zaghatigrew wildٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرُ al-absaruthe eyesوَبَلَغَتِ wabalaghatiand reachedٱلۡقُلُوبُ al-qulubuthe heartsٱلۡحَنَاجِرَ al-hanajirathe throatsوَتَظُنُّونَ watazunnunaand you assumedبِٱللَّهِ bil-lahiabout Allahٱلظُّنُونَا۠ al-zununathe assumptions
TRANSLITERATION
idh jaukum min fawqikum wamin asfala minkum wa-idh zaghati al-absaru wabalaghati al-qulubu al-hanajira watazunnuna bil-lahi al-zununa
English - Sahih International
[Remember] when they came at you from above you and from below you, and when eyes shifted [in fear], and hearts reached the throats and you assumed about Allah [various] assumptions.
