Ayah 1 Play Ayah
الٓرۚ alif-lam-raAlif Laam Raتِلۡكَ til'kaTheseءَايَٰتُ ayatu(are) the Versesٱلۡكِتَٰبِ al-kitabi(of) the Bookوَقُرۡءَانٖ waqur'aninand Quranمُّبِينٖ mubininclearﰀ
TRANSLITERATION
alif-lam-ra til'ka ayatu al-kitabi waqur'anin mubinin
English - Sahih International
Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an.
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
رُّبَمَا rubamaPerhapsيَوَدُّ yawadduwill wishٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoكَفَرُواْ kafarudisbelievedلَوۡ lawifكَانُواْ kanuthey had beenمُسۡلِمِينَ mus'liminaMuslimsﰁ
TRANSLITERATION
rubama yawaddu alladhina kafaru law kanu mus'limina
English - Sahih International
Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims.
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
ذَرۡهُمۡ dharhumLeave themيَأۡكُلُواْ yakulu(to) eatوَيَتَمَتَّعُواْ wayatamatta'uand enjoyوَيُلۡهِهِمُ wayul'hihimuand diverted themٱلۡأَمَلُۖ al-amaluthe hopeفَسَوۡفَ fasawfathen soonيَعۡلَمُونَ ya'lamunathey will come to knowﰂ
TRANSLITERATION
dharhum yakulu wayatamatta'u wayul'hihimu al-amalu fasawfa ya'lamuna
English - Sahih International
Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
وَمَآ wamaAnd notأَهۡلَكۡنَا ahlaknaWe destroyedمِن minanyقَرۡيَةٍ qaryatintownإِلَّا illabutوَلَهَا walaha(there was) for itكِتَابٞ kitabuna decreeمَّعۡلُومٞ ma'lumunknownﰃ
TRANSLITERATION
wama ahlakna min qaryatin illa walaha kitabun ma'lumun
English - Sahih International
And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
مَّا maNotتَسۡبِقُ tasbiqu(can) advanceمِنۡ minanyأُمَّةٍ ummatinnationأَجَلَهَا ajalahaits termوَمَا wamaand notيَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ yastakhiruna(can) delay itﰄ
TRANSLITERATION
ma tasbiqu min ummatin ajalaha wama yastakhiruna
English - Sahih International
No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter.
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
وَقَالُواْ waqaluAnd they sayيَـٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuhaO youٱلَّذِي alladhi(to) whomنُزِّلَ nuzzilahas been sent downعَلَيۡهِ alayhi[on him]ٱلذِّكۡرُ al-dhik'ruthe Reminderإِنَّكَ innakaindeed youلَمَجۡنُونٞ lamajnunun(are) surely madﰅ
TRANSLITERATION
waqalu yaayyuha alladhi nuzzila alayhi al-dhik'ru innaka lamajnunun
English - Sahih International
And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
لَّوۡ lawWhyمَا manotتَأۡتِينَا tatinayou bring to usبِٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ bil-malaikatithe Angelsإِن inifكُنتَ kuntayou areمِنَ minaofٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ al-sadiqinathe truthfulﰆ
TRANSLITERATION
law ma tatina bil-malaikati in kunta mina al-sadiqina
English - Sahih International
Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?"
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
مَا maNotنُنَزِّلُ nunazziluWe send downٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ al-malaikatathe Angelsإِلَّا illaexceptبِٱلۡحَقِّ bil-haqiwith the truthوَمَا wamaand notكَانُوٓاْ kanuthey would beإِذٗا idhanthenمُّنظَرِينَ munzarinagiven respiteﰇ
TRANSLITERATION
ma nunazzilu al-malaikata illa bil-haqi wama kanu idhan munzarina
English - Sahih International
We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
إِنَّا innaIndeed Weنَحۡنُ nahnuWeنَزَّلۡنَا nazzalnahave sent downٱلذِّكۡرَ al-dhik'rathe Reminderوَإِنَّا wa-innaand indeed Weلَهُۥ lahuof itلَحَٰفِظُونَ lahafizuna(are) surely Guardiansﰈ
TRANSLITERATION
inna nahnu nazzalna al-dhik'ra wa-inna lahu lahafizuna
English - Sahih International
Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
وَلَقَدۡ walaqadAnd certainlyأَرۡسَلۡنَا arsalnaWe (had) sentمِن minbefore youقَبۡلِكَ qablikabefore youفِي fiinشِيَعِ shiya'ithe sectsٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ al-awalina(of) the former (people)ﰉ
TRANSLITERATION
walaqad arsalna min qablika fi shiya'i al-awalina
English - Sahih International
And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples.
