Ayah 2 Play Ayah
تِلۡكَ til'kaTheseءَايَٰتُ ayatu(are the) Versesٱلۡكِتَٰبِ al-kitabi(of) the Bookٱلۡمُبِينِ al-mubinithe clear
TRANSLITERATION
til'ka ayatu al-kitabi al-mubini
English - Sahih International
These are the verses of the clear Book.
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
نَتۡلُواْ natluWe reciteعَلَيۡكَ alaykato youمِن minfromنَّبَإِ naba-i(the) newsمُوسَىٰ musa(of) Musaوَفِرۡعَوۡنَ wafir'awnaand Firaunبِٱلۡحَقِّ bil-haqiin truthلِقَوۡمٖ liqawminfor a peopleيُؤۡمِنُونَ yu'minunawho believe
TRANSLITERATION
natlu alayka min naba-i musa wafir'awna bil-haqi liqawmin yu'minuna

We recite to you from the news of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for a people who believe.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
إِنَّ innaIndeedفِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awnaFiraunعَلَا alaexalted himselfفِي fiinٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardithe landوَجَعَلَ waja'alaand madeأَهۡلَهَا ahlahaits peopleشِيَعٗا shiya'an(into) sectsيَسۡتَضۡعِفُ yastad'ifuoppressingطَآئِفَةٗ taifatana groupمِّنۡهُمۡ min'humamong themيُذَبِّحُ yudhabbihuslaughteringأَبۡنَآءَهُمۡ abnaahumtheir sonsوَيَسۡتَحۡيِۦ wayastahyiand letting liveنِسَآءَهُمۡۚ nisaahumtheir womenإِنَّهُۥ innahuIndeed heكَانَ kanawasمِنَ minaofٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ al-muf'sidinathe corrupters
TRANSLITERATION
inna fir'awna ala fi al-ardi waja'ala ahlaha shiya'an yastad'ifu taifatan min'hum yudhabbihu abnaahum wayastahyi nisaahum innahu kana mina al-muf'sidina
English - Sahih International
Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and made its people into factions, oppressing a sector among them, slaughtering their [newborn] sons and keeping their females alive. Indeed, he was of the corrupters.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
وَنُرِيدُ wanuriduAnd We wantedأَن antoنَّمُنَّ namunnabestow a favorعَلَى alauponٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoٱسۡتُضۡعِفُواْ us'tud'ifuwere oppressedفِي fiinٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardithe landوَنَجۡعَلَهُمۡ wanaj'alahumand make themأَئِمَّةٗ a-immatanleadersوَنَجۡعَلَهُمُ wanaj'alahumuand make themٱلۡوَٰرِثِينَ al-warithinathe inheritors
TRANSLITERATION
wanuridu an namunna ala alladhina us'tud'ifu fi al-ardi wanaj'alahum a-immatan wanaj'alahumu al-warithina
English - Sahih International
And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors

Ayah 6 Play Ayah
وَنُمَكِّنَ wanumakkinaAnd [We] establishلَهُمۡ lahumthemفِي fiinٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardithe landوَنُرِيَ wanuriyaand showفِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awnaFiraunوَهَٰمَٰنَ wahamanaand Hamanوَجُنُودَهُمَا wajunudahumaand their hostsمِنۡهُم min'humthrough themمَّا mawhatكَانُواْ kanuthey wereيَحۡذَرُونَ yahdharunafearing
TRANSLITERATION
wanumakkina lahum fi al-ardi wanuriya fir'awna wahamana wajunudahuma min'hum ma kanu yahdharuna
English - Sahih International
And establish them in the land and show Pharaoh and [his minister] Haman and their soldiers through them that which they had feared.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
وَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ wa-awhaynaAnd We inspiredإِلَىٰٓ ila[to]أُمِّ ummi(the) motherمُوسَىٰٓ musa(of) Musaأَنۡ anthatأَرۡضِعِيهِۖ ardi'ihiSuckle himفَإِذَا fa-idhabut whenخِفۡتِ khif'tiyou fearعَلَيۡهِ alayhifor himفَأَلۡقِيهِ fa-alqihithen cast himفِي fiin(to)ٱلۡيَمِّ al-yamithe riverوَلَا walaand (do) notتَخَافِي takhafifearوَلَا walaand (do) notتَحۡزَنِيٓۖ tahzanigrieveإِنَّا innaIndeed Weرَآدُّوهُ radduhu(will) restore himإِلَيۡكِ ilaykito youوَجَاعِلُوهُ waja'iluhuand (will) make himمِنَ minaofٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ al-mur'salinathe Messengers
TRANSLITERATION
wa-awhayna ila ummi musa an ardi'ihi fa-idha khif'ti alayhi fa-alqihi fi al-yami wala takhafi wala tahzani inna radduhu ilayki waja'iluhu mina al-mur'salina
English - Sahih International
And We inspired to the mother of Moses, "Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear and do not grieve. Indeed, We will return him to you and will make him [one] of the messengers."
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
فَٱلۡتَقَطَهُۥٓ fal-taqatahuThen picked him upءَالُ alu(the) familyفِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awna(of) Firaunلِيَكُونَ liyakunaso that he might becomeلَهُمۡ lahumto themعَدُوّٗا aduwwanan enemyوَحَزَنًاۗ wahazananand a griefإِنَّ innaIndeedفِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awnaFiraunوَهَٰمَٰنَ wahamanaand Hamanوَجُنُودَهُمَا wajunudahumaand their hostsكَانُواْ kanuwereخَٰطِـِٔينَ khatiinasinners
TRANSLITERATION
fal-taqatahu alu fir'awna liyakuna lahum aduwwan wahazanan inna fir'awna wahamana wajunudahuma kanu khatiina
English - Sahih International
And the family of Pharaoh picked him up [out of the river] so that he would become to them an enemy and a [cause of] grief. Indeed, Pharaoh and Haman and their soldiers were deliberate sinners.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
وَقَالَتِ waqalatiAnd saidٱمۡرَأَتُ im'ra-atu(the) wifeفِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awna(of) Firaunقُرَّتُ qurratuA comfortعَيۡنٖ aynin(of the) eyeلِّي lifor meوَلَكَۖ walakaand for youلَا la(Do) notتَقۡتُلُوهُ taqtuluhukill himعَسَىٰٓ asaperhapsأَن an(that)يَنفَعَنَآ yanfa'anahe may benefit usأَوۡ aworنَتَّخِذَهُۥ nattakhidhahuwe may take himوَلَدٗا waladan(as) a sonوَهُمۡ wahumAnd theyلَا la(did) notيَشۡعُرُونَ yash'urunaperceive
TRANSLITERATION
waqalati im'ra-atu fir'awna qurratu aynin li walaka la taqtuluhu asa an yanfa'ana aw nattakhidhahu waladan wahum la yash'uruna
English - Sahih International
And the wife of Pharaoh said, "[He will be] a comfort of the eye for me and for you. Do not kill him; perhaps he may benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
وَأَصۡبَحَ wa-asbahaAnd becameفُؤَادُ fuadu(the) heartأُمِّ ummi(of the) motherمُوسَىٰ musa(of) Musaفَٰرِغًاۖ farighanemptyإِن inThatكَادَتۡ kadatshe was nearلَتُبۡدِي latub'di(to) disclosingبِهِۦ bihiabout himلَوۡلَآ lawlaif notأَن anthatرَّبَطۡنَا rabatnaWe strengthenedعَلَىٰ ala[over]قَلۡبِهَا qalbihaher heartلِتَكُونَ litakunaso that she would beمِنَ minaofٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ al-mu'mininathe believers
TRANSLITERATION
wa-asbaha fuadu ummi musa farighan in kadat latub'di bihi lawla an rabatna ala qalbiha litakuna mina al-mu'minina
English - Sahih International
And the heart of Moses' mother became empty [of all else]. She was about to disclose [the matter concerning] him had We not bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers.
