Ayah 1 Play Ayah
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuhaOٱلنَّبِيُّ al-nabiyuProphetإِذَا idhaWhenطَلَّقۡتُمُ tallaqtumuyou divorceٱلنِّسَآءَ al-nisaa[the] womenفَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ fatalliquhunnathen divorce themلِعِدَّتِهِنَّ li'iddatihinnafor their waiting periodوَأَحۡصُواْ wa-ahsuand keep countٱلۡعِدَّةَۖ al-'idata(of) the waiting periodوَٱتَّقُواْ wa-ittaquand fearٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahرَبَّكُمۡۖ rabbakumyour Lordلَا la(Do) notتُخۡرِجُوهُنَّ tukh'rijuhunnaexpel themمِنۢ minfromبُيُوتِهِنَّ buyutihinnatheir housesوَلَا walaand notيَخۡرُجۡنَ yakhruj'nathey should leaveإِلَّآ illaexceptأَن anthatيَأۡتِينَ yatinathey commitبِفَٰحِشَةٖ bifahishatinan immoralityمُّبَيِّنَةٖۚ mubayyinatinclearوَتِلۡكَ watil'kaAnd theseحُدُودُ hududu(are the) limitsٱللَّهِۚ al-lahi(of) Allahوَمَن wamanAnd whoeverيَتَعَدَّ yata'addatransgressesحُدُودَ hududa(the) limitsٱللَّهِ al-lahi(of) Allahفَقَدۡ faqadthen certainlyظَلَمَ zalamahe has wrongedنَفۡسَهُۥۚ nafsahuhimselfلَا laNotتَدۡرِي tadriyou knowلَعَلَّ la'allaPerhapsٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahيُحۡدِثُ yuh'dithuwill bring aboutبَعۡدَ ba'daafterذَٰلِكَ dhalikathatأَمۡرٗا amrana matterﰀ
TRANSLITERATION
yaayyuha al-nabiyu idha tallaqtumu al-nisaa fatalliquhunna li'iddatihinna wa-ahsu al-'idata wa-ittaqu al-laha rabbakum la tukh'rijuhunna min buyutihinna wala yakhruj'na illa an yatina bifahishatin mubayyinatin watil'ka hududu al-lahi waman yata'adda hududa al-lahi faqad zalama nafsahu la tadri la'alla al-laha yuh'dithu ba'da dhalika amran
English - Sahih International
O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period and keep count of the waiting period, and fear Allah, your Lord. Do not turn them out of their [husbands'] houses, nor should they [themselves] leave [during that period] unless they are committing a clear immorality. And those are the limits [set by] Allah. And whoever transgresses the limits of Allah has certainly wronged himself. You know not; perhaps Allah will bring about after that a [different] matter.
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
فَإِذَا fa-idhaThen whenبَلَغۡنَ balaghnathey have reachedأَجَلَهُنَّ ajalahunnatheir termفَأَمۡسِكُوهُنَّ fa-amsikuhunnathen retain themبِمَعۡرُوفٍ bima'rufinwith kindnessأَوۡ aworفَارِقُوهُنَّ fariquhunnapart with themبِمَعۡرُوفٖ bima'rufinwith kindnessوَأَشۡهِدُواْ wa-ashhiduAnd take witnessذَوَيۡ dhawaytwo menعَدۡلٖ adlinjustمِّنكُمۡ minkumamong youوَأَقِيمُواْ wa-aqimuand establishٱلشَّهَٰدَةَ al-shahadatathe testimonyلِلَّهِۚ lillahifor Allahذَٰلِكُمۡ dhalikumThatيُوعَظُ yu'azuis instructedبِهِۦ bihiwith itمَن manwhoeverكَانَ kana[is]يُؤۡمِنُ yu'minubelievesبِٱللَّهِ bil-lahiin Allahوَٱلۡيَوۡمِ wal-yawmiand the Dayٱلۡأٓخِرِۚ al-akhirithe Lastوَمَن wamanAnd whoeverيَتَّقِ yattaqifearsٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahيَجۡعَل yaj'alHe will makeلَّهُۥ lahufor himمَخۡرَجٗا makhrajana way outﰁ
TRANSLITERATION
fa-idha balaghna ajalahunna fa-amsikuhunna bima'rufin aw fariquhunna bima'rufin wa-ashhidu dhaway adlin minkum wa-aqimu al-shahadata lillahi dhalikum yu'azu bihi man kana yu'minu bil-lahi wal-yawmi al-akhiri waman yattaqi al-laha yaj'al lahu makhrajan
English - Sahih International
And when they have [nearly] fulfilled their term, either retain them according to acceptable terms or part with them according to acceptable terms. And bring to witness two just men from among you and establish the testimony for [the acceptance of] Allah. That is instructed to whoever should believe in Allah and the Last day. And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
وَيَرۡزُقۡهُ wayarzuq'huAnd He will provide for himمِنۡ minfromحَيۡثُ haythuwhereلَا lanotيَحۡتَسِبُۚ yahtasibuhe thinksوَمَن wamanAnd whoeverيَتَوَكَّلۡ yatawakkalputs his trustعَلَى alauponٱللَّهِ al-lahiAllahفَهُوَ fahuwathen Heحَسۡبُهُۥٓۚ hasbuhu(is) sufficient for himإِنَّ innaIndeedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahبَٰلِغُ balighu(will) accomplishأَمۡرِهِۦۚ amrihiHis purposeقَدۡ qadIndeedجَعَلَ ja'alahas setٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahلِكُلِّ likullifor everyشَيۡءٖ shayinthingقَدۡرٗا qadrana measureﰂ
TRANSLITERATION
wayarzuq'hu min haythu la yahtasibu waman yatawakkal ala al-lahi fahuwa hasbuhu inna al-laha balighu amrihi qad ja'ala al-lahu likulli shayin qadran
English - Sahih International
And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
وَٱلَّـٰٓـِٔي wa-allaiAnd those whoيَئِسۡنَ ya-is'nahave despairedمِنَ minaofٱلۡمَحِيضِ al-mahidithe menstruationمِن minamongنِّسَآئِكُمۡ nisaikumyour womenإِنِ iniifٱرۡتَبۡتُمۡ ir'tabtumyou doubtفَعِدَّتُهُنَّ fa'iddatuhunnathen their waiting periodثَلَٰثَةُ thalathatu(is) threeأَشۡهُرٖ ashhurinmonthsوَٱلَّـٰٓـِٔي wa-allaiand the ones whoلَمۡ lamnotيَحِضۡنَۚ yahid'na[they] menstruatedوَأُوْلَٰتُ wa-ulatuAnd those who (are)ٱلۡأَحۡمَالِ al-ahmalipregnantأَجَلُهُنَّ ajaluhunnatheir term (is)أَن anuntilيَضَعۡنَ yada'nathey deliverحَمۡلَهُنَّۚ hamlahunnatheir burdensوَمَن wamanAnd whoeverيَتَّقِ yattaqifearsٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahيَجۡعَل yaj'alHe will makeلَّهُۥ lahufor himمِنۡ minofأَمۡرِهِۦ amrihihis affairيُسۡرٗا yus'raneaseﰃ
TRANSLITERATION
wa-allai ya-is'na mina al-mahidi min nisaikum ini ir'tabtum fa'iddatuhunna thalathatu ashhurin wa-allai lam yahid'na wa-ulatu al-ahmali ajaluhunna an yada'na hamlahunna waman yattaqi al-laha yaj'al lahu min amrihi yus'ran
English - Sahih International
And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women - if you doubt, then their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated. And for those who are pregnant, their term is until they give birth. And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
ذَٰلِكَ dhalikaThatأَمۡرُ amru(is the) Commandٱللَّهِ al-lahi(of) Allahأَنزَلَهُۥٓ anzalahuwhich He has sent downإِلَيۡكُمۡۚ ilaykumto youوَمَن wamanand whoeverيَتَّقِ yattaqifearsٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahيُكَفِّرۡ yukaffirHe will removeعَنۡهُ anhufrom himسَيِّـَٔاتِهِۦ sayyiatihihis misdeedsوَيُعۡظِمۡ wayu'zimand make greatلَهُۥٓ lahufor himأَجۡرًا ajran(his) rewardﰄ
TRANSLITERATION
dhalika amru al-lahi anzalahu ilaykum waman yattaqi al-laha yukaffir anhu sayyiatihi wayu'zim lahu ajran
English - Sahih International
That is the command of Allah, which He has sent down to you; and whoever fears Allah - He will remove for him his misdeeds and make great for him his reward.

Ayah 6 Play Ayah
أَسۡكِنُوهُنَّ askinuhunnaLodge themمِنۡ minfromحَيۡثُ haythuwhereسَكَنتُم sakantumyou dwellمِّن min(out) ofوُجۡدِكُمۡ wuj'dikumyour meansوَلَا walaand (do) notتُضَآرُّوهُنَّ tudarruhunnaharm themلِتُضَيِّقُواْ litudayyiquto distressعَلَيۡهِنَّۚ alayhinna[on] themوَإِن wa-inAnd ifكُنَّ kunnathey areأُوْلَٰتِ ulatithose (who are)حَمۡلٖ hamlinpregnantفَأَنفِقُواْ fa-anfiquthen spendعَلَيۡهِنَّ alayhinnaon themحَتَّىٰ hattauntilيَضَعۡنَ yada'nathey deliverحَمۡلَهُنَّۚ hamlahunnatheir burdenفَإِنۡ fa-inThen ifأَرۡضَعۡنَ arda'nathey suckleلَكُمۡ lakumfor youفَـَٔاتُوهُنَّ faatuhunnathen give themأُجُورَهُنَّ ujurahunnatheir paymentوَأۡتَمِرُواْ watamiruand consultبَيۡنَكُم baynakumamong yourselvesبِمَعۡرُوفٖۖ bima'rufinwith kindnessوَإِن wa-inbut ifتَعَاسَرۡتُمۡ ta'asartumyou disagreeفَسَتُرۡضِعُ fasatur'di'uthen may suckleلَهُۥٓ lahufor himأُخۡرَىٰ ukh'raanother (women)ﰅ
TRANSLITERATION
askinuhunna min haythu sakantum min wuj'dikum wala tudarruhunna litudayyiqu alayhinna wa-in kunna ulati hamlin fa-anfiqu alayhinna hatta yada'na hamlahunna fa-in arda'na lakum faatuhunna ujurahunna watamiru baynakum bima'rufin wa-in ta'asartum fasatur'di'u lahu ukh'ra
English - Sahih International
Lodge them [in a section] of where you dwell out of your means and do not harm them in order to oppress them. And if they should be pregnant, then spend on them until they give birth. And if they breastfeed for you, then give them their payment and confer among yourselves in the acceptable way; but if you are in discord, then there may breastfeed for the father another woman.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
لِيُنفِقۡ liyunfiqLet spendذُو dhuownerسَعَةٖ sa'atin(of) ample meansمِّن minfromسَعَتِهِۦۖ sa'atihihis ample meansوَمَن wamanand (he) whoقُدِرَ qudirais restrictedعَلَيۡهِ alayhion himرِزۡقُهُۥ riz'quhuhis provisionفَلۡيُنفِقۡ falyunfiqlet him spendمِمَّآ mimmafrom whatءَاتَىٰهُ atahuhe has been givenٱللَّهُۚ al-lahu(by) Allahلَا laDoes notيُكَلِّفُ yukallifuburdenٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahنَفۡسًا nafsanany soulإِلَّا illaexceptمَآ ma(with) whatءَاتَىٰهَاۚ atahaHe has given itسَيَجۡعَلُ sayaj'aluWill bring aboutٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahبَعۡدَ ba'daafterعُسۡرٖ us'rinhardshipيُسۡرٗا yus'raneaseﰆ
TRANSLITERATION
liyunfiq dhu sa'atin min sa'atihi waman qudira alayhi riz'quhu falyunfiq mimma atahu al-lahu la yukallifu al-lahu nafsan illa ma ataha sayaj'alu al-lahu ba'da us'rin yus'ran
English - Sahih International
Let a man of wealth spend from his wealth, and he whose provision is restricted - let him spend from what Allah has given him. Allah does not charge a soul except [according to] what He has given it. Allah will bring about, after hardship, ease.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
وَكَأَيِّن waka-ayyinAnd how manyمِّن minofقَرۡيَةٍ qaryatina townعَتَتۡ atatrebelledعَنۡ anagainstأَمۡرِ amri(the) Commandرَبِّهَا rabbiha(of) its Lordوَرُسُلِهِۦ warusulihiand His Messengersفَحَاسَبۡنَٰهَا fahasabnahaso We took it to accountحِسَابٗا hisabanan accountشَدِيدٗا shadidansevere;وَعَذَّبۡنَٰهَا wa'adhabnahaand We punished itعَذَابٗا adhabana punishmentنُّكۡرٗا nuk'ranterribleﰇ
TRANSLITERATION
waka-ayyin min qaryatin atat an amri rabbiha warusulihi fahasabnaha hisaban shadidan wa'adhabnaha adhaban nuk'ran
English - Sahih International
And how many a city was insolent toward the command of its Lord and His messengers, so We took it to severe account and punished it with a terrible punishment.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
فَذَاقَتۡ fadhaqatSo it tastedوَبَالَ wabala(the) bad consequenceأَمۡرِهَا amriha(of) its affairوَكَانَ wakanaand wasعَٰقِبَةُ aqibatu(the) endأَمۡرِهَا amriha(of) its affairخُسۡرًا khus'ranlossﰈ
TRANSLITERATION
fadhaqat wabala amriha wakana aqibatu amriha khus'ran
English - Sahih International
And it tasted the bad consequence of its affair, and the outcome of its affair was loss.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
أَعَدَّ a'addaHas preparedٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahلَهُمۡ lahumfor themعَذَابٗا adhabana punishmentشَدِيدٗاۖ shadidansevereفَٱتَّقُواْ fa-ittaquSo fearٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahيَـٰٓأُوْلِي yauliO menٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ al-albabi(of) understandingٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoءَامَنُواْۚ amanuhave believedقَدۡ qadIndeedأَنزَلَ anzalaHas sent downٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahإِلَيۡكُمۡ ilaykumto youذِكۡرٗا dhik'rana Messageﰉ
TRANSLITERATION
a'adda al-lahu lahum adhaban shadidan fa-ittaqu al-laha yauli al-albabi alladhina amanu qad anzala al-lahu ilaykum dhik'ran
English - Sahih International
Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment; so fear Allah, O you of understanding who have believed. Allah has sent down to you the Qur'an.
