Ayah 1 Play Ayah
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ al-hamduAll Praiseلِلَّهِ lillahi(is) for Allahٱلَّذِيٓ alladhithe One Whoأَنزَلَ anzala(has) revealedعَلَىٰ alatoعَبۡدِهِ abdihiHis slaveٱلۡكِتَٰبَ al-kitabathe Bookوَلَمۡ walamand notيَجۡعَل yaj'al(has) madeلَّهُۥ lahuin itعِوَجَاۜ iwajaany crookednessﰀ
TRANSLITERATION
al-hamdu lillahi alladhi anzala ala abdihi al-kitaba walam yaj'al lahu iwaja
English - Sahih International
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance.
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
قَيِّمٗا qayyimanStraightلِّيُنذِرَ liyundhirato warnبَأۡسٗا basan(of) a punishmentشَدِيدٗا shadidansevereمِّن minfromلَّدُنۡهُ ladun'hunear Himوَيُبَشِّرَ wayubashiraand give glad tidingsٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ al-mu'minina(to) the believersٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoيَعۡمَلُونَ ya'malunadoٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ al-salihatirighteous deedsأَنَّ annathatلَهُمۡ lahumfor themأَجۡرًا ajran(is) a good rewardحَسَنٗا hasanan(is) a good rewardﰁ
TRANSLITERATION
qayyiman liyundhira basan shadidan min ladun'hu wayubashira al-mu'minina alladhina ya'maluna al-salihati anna lahum ajran hasanan
English - Sahih International
[He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
مَّـٰكِثِينَ makithina(They will) abideفِيهِ fihiin itأَبَدٗا abadanforeverﰂ
TRANSLITERATION
makithina fihi abadan
English - Sahih International
In which they will remain forever
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
وَيُنذِرَ wayundhiraAnd to warnٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoقَالُواْ qalusayٱتَّخَذَ ittakhadhaAllah has takenٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllah has takenوَلَدٗا waladana sonﰃ
TRANSLITERATION
wayundhira alladhina qalu ittakhadha al-lahu waladan
English - Sahih International
And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son."

Ayah 5 Play Ayah
مَّا maNotلَهُم lahumthey haveبِهِۦ bihiabout itمِنۡ minanyعِلۡمٖ il'minknowledgeوَلَا walaand notلِأٓبَآئِهِمۡۚ liabaihimtheir forefathersكَبُرَتۡ kaburatMighty (is)كَلِمَةٗ kalimatanthe wordتَخۡرُجُ takhruju(that) comes outمِنۡ minofأَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡۚ afwahihimtheir mouthsإِن inNotيَقُولُونَ yaqulunathey sayإِلَّا illaexceptكَذِبٗا kadhibana lieﰄ
TRANSLITERATION
ma lahum bihi min il'min wala liabaihim kaburat kalimatan takhruju min afwahihim in yaquluna illa kadhiban
English - Sahih International
They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie.
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
فَلَعَلَّكَ fala'allakaThen perhaps you would (be)بَٰخِعٞ bakhi'unthe one who killsنَّفۡسَكَ nafsakayourselfعَلَىٰٓ alaoverءَاثَٰرِهِمۡ atharihimtheir footstepsإِن inifلَّمۡ lamnotيُؤۡمِنُواْ yu'minuthey believeبِهَٰذَا bihadhain thisٱلۡحَدِيثِ al-hadithi[the] narrationأَسَفًا asafan(in) griefﰅ
TRANSLITERATION
fala'allaka bakhi'un nafsaka ala atharihim in lam yu'minu bihadha al-hadithi asafan
English - Sahih International
Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muhammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
إِنَّا innaIndeed Weجَعَلۡنَا ja'alnaWe have madeمَا mawhatعَلَى ala(is) onٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardithe earthزِينَةٗ zinatanadornmentلَّهَا lahafor itلِنَبۡلُوَهُمۡ linabluwahumthat We may test [them]أَيُّهُمۡ ayyuhumwhich of themأَحۡسَنُ ahsanu(is) bestعَمَلٗا amalan(in) deedﰆ
TRANSLITERATION
inna ja'alna ma ala al-ardi zinatan laha linabluwahum ayyuhum ahsanu amalan
English - Sahih International
Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
وَإِنَّا wa-innaAnd indeed Weلَجَٰعِلُونَ laja'iluna(will) surely makeمَا mawhatعَلَيۡهَا alayha(is) on itصَعِيدٗا sa'idansoilجُرُزًا juruzanbarrenﰇ
TRANSLITERATION
wa-inna laja'iluna ma alayha sa'idan juruzan
English - Sahih International
And indeed, We will make that which is upon it [into] a barren ground.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
أَمۡ amOrحَسِبۡتَ hasib'tayou thinkأَنَّ annathatأَصۡحَٰبَ ashaba(the) companionsٱلۡكَهۡفِ al-kahfi(of) the caveوَٱلرَّقِيمِ wal-raqimiand the inscriptionكَانُواْ kanuwereمِنۡ minamongءَايَٰتِنَا ayatinaOur Signsعَجَبًا ajabana wonderﰈ
TRANSLITERATION
am hasib'ta anna ashaba al-kahfi wal-raqimi kanu min ayatina ajaban
English - Sahih International
Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder?
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
إِذۡ idhWhenأَوَى awaretreatedٱلۡفِتۡيَةُ al-fit'yatuthe youthsإِلَى ilatoٱلۡكَهۡفِ al-kahfithe caveفَقَالُواْ faqaluand they saidرَبَّنَآ rabbanaOur Lord!ءَاتِنَا atinaGrant usمِن minfromلَّدُنكَ ladunkaYourselfرَحۡمَةٗ rahmatanMercyوَهَيِّئۡ wahayyiand facilitateلَنَا lanafor usمِنۡ min[from]أَمۡرِنَا amrinaour affairرَشَدٗا rashadan(in the) right wayﰉ
TRANSLITERATION
idh awa al-fit'yatu ila al-kahfi faqalu rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wahayyi lana min amrina rashadan
English - Sahih International
[Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance."
