Ayah 1 Play Ayah
صٓۚ sadSaadوَٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ wal-qur'aniBy the Quranذِي dhifull (of) reminderٱلذِّكۡرِ al-dhik'rifull (of) reminder
TRANSLITERATION
sad wal-qur'ani dhi al-dhik'ri

Sad. By the Qur'an containing reminder...
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
بَلِ baliNayٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoكَفَرُواْ kafarudisbelieveفِي fi(are) inعِزَّةٖ izzatinself-gloryوَشِقَاقٖ washiqaqinand opposition
TRANSLITERATION
bali alladhina kafaru fi izzatin washiqaqin
English - Sahih International
But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension.
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
كَمۡ kamHow manyأَهۡلَكۡنَا ahlaknaWe destroyedمِن minbefore themقَبۡلِهِم qablihimbefore themمِّن minofقَرۡنٖ qarnina generationفَنَادَواْ fanadawthen they called outوَّلَاتَ walatawhen there (was) no longerحِينَ hinatimeمَنَاصٖ manasin(for) escape
TRANSLITERATION
kam ahlakna min qablihim min qarnin fanadaw walata hina manasin
English - Sahih International
How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
وَعَجِبُوٓاْ wa'ajibuAnd they wonderأَن anthatجَآءَهُم jaahumhas come to themمُّنذِرٞ mundhiruna warnerمِّنۡهُمۡۖ min'humfrom among themselvesوَقَالَ waqalaAnd saidٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ al-kafirunathe disbelieversهَٰذَا hadhaThisسَٰحِرٞ sahirun(is) a magicianكَذَّابٌ kadhabuna liar
TRANSLITERATION
wa'ajibu an jaahum mundhirun min'hum waqala al-kafiruna hadha sahirun kadhabun
English - Sahih International
And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
أَجَعَلَ aja'alaHas he madeٱلۡأٓلِهَةَ al-alihatathe godsإِلَٰهٗا ilahan(into) one godوَٰحِدًاۖ wahidan(into) one godإِنَّ innaIndeedهَٰذَا hadhathisلَشَيۡءٌ lashayon(is) certainly a thingعُجَابٞ ujabuncurious
TRANSLITERATION
aja'ala al-alihata ilahan wahidan inna hadha lashayon ujabun
English - Sahih International
Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing."
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
وَٱنطَلَقَ wa-intalaqaAnd went forthٱلۡمَلَأُ al-mala-uthe chiefsمِنۡهُمۡ min'humamong themأَنِ anithatٱمۡشُواْ im'shuContinueوَٱصۡبِرُواْ wa-is'biruand be patientعَلَىٰٓ alaoverءَالِهَتِكُمۡۖ alihatikumyour godsإِنَّ innaIndeedهَٰذَا hadhathisلَشَيۡءٞ lashayon(is) certainly a thingيُرَادُ yuraduintended
TRANSLITERATION
wa-intalaqa al-mala-u min'hum ani im'shu wa-is'biru ala alihatikum inna hadha lashayon yuradu
English - Sahih International
And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
مَا maNotسَمِعۡنَا sami'nawe heardبِهَٰذَا bihadhaof thisفِي fiinٱلۡمِلَّةِ al-milatithe religionٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ al-akhiratithe lastإِنۡ inNotهَٰذَآ hadha(is) thisإِلَّا illabutٱخۡتِلَٰقٌ ikh'tilaquna fabrication
TRANSLITERATION
ma sami'na bihadha fi al-milati al-akhirati in hadha illa ikh'tilaqun
English - Sahih International
We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
أَءُنزِلَ a-unzilaHas been revealedعَلَيۡهِ alayhito himٱلذِّكۡرُ al-dhik'ruthe Messageمِنۢ minfromبَيۡنِنَاۚ bayninaamong usبَلۡ balNayهُمۡ humTheyفِي fi(are) inشَكّٖ shakkindoubtمِّن minaboutذِكۡرِيۚ dhik'riMy Messageبَل balNayلَّمَّا lammanotيَذُوقُواْ yadhuquthey have tastedعَذَابِ adhabiMy punishment
TRANSLITERATION
a-unzila alayhi al-dhik'ru min baynina bal hum fi shakkin min dhik'ri bal lamma yadhuqu adhabi
English - Sahih International
Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
أَمۡ amOrعِندَهُمۡ indahumhave theyخَزَآئِنُ khazainu(the) treasuresرَحۡمَةِ rahmati(of the) Mercyرَبِّكَ rabbika(of) your Lordٱلۡعَزِيزِ al-'azizithe All-Mightyٱلۡوَهَّابِ al-wahabithe Bestower
TRANSLITERATION
am indahum khazainu rahmati rabbika al-'azizi al-wahabi
English - Sahih International
Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower?
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
أَمۡ amOrلَهُم lahumfor themمُّلۡكُ mul'ku(is the) dominionٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ al-samawati(of) the heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضِ wal-ardiand the earthوَمَا wamaand whateverبَيۡنَهُمَاۖ baynahuma(is) between themفَلۡيَرۡتَقُواْ falyartaquThen let them ascendفِي fibyٱلۡأَسۡبَٰبِ al-asbabithe means
TRANSLITERATION
am lahum mul'ku al-samawati wal-ardi wama baynahuma falyartaqu fi al-asbabi
English - Sahih International
Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access.
