Ayah 1 Play Ayah
تَبَٰرَكَ tabarakaBlessed isٱلَّذِي alladhiHeبِيَدِهِ biyadihiin Whose Handٱلۡمُلۡكُ al-mul'ku(is) the Dominionوَهُوَ wahuwaand Heعَلَىٰ ala(is) overكُلِّ kullieveryشَيۡءٖ shayinthingقَدِيرٌ qadirunAll-Powerfulﰀ
TRANSLITERATION
tabaraka alladhi biyadihi al-mul'ku wahuwa ala kulli shayin qadirun
English - Sahih International
Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent -
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
ٱلَّذِي alladhiThe One Whoخَلَقَ khalaqacreatedٱلۡمَوۡتَ al-mawtadeathوَٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ wal-hayataand lifeلِيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ liyabluwakumthat He may test youأَيُّكُمۡ ayyukumwhich of youأَحۡسَنُ ahsanu(is) bestعَمَلٗاۚ amalan(in) deedوَهُوَ wahuwaAnd Heٱلۡعَزِيزُ al-'azizu(is) the All-Mightyٱلۡغَفُورُ al-ghafuruthe Oft-Forgivingﰁ
TRANSLITERATION
alladhi khalaqa al-mawta wal-hayata liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu amalan wahuwa al-'azizu al-ghafuru
English - Sahih International
[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving -
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
ٱلَّذِي alladhiThe One Whoخَلَقَ khalaqacreatedسَبۡعَ sab'asevenسَمَٰوَٰتٖ samawatinheavensطِبَاقٗاۖ tibaqanone above anotherمَّا maNotتَرَىٰ tarayou seeفِي fiinخَلۡقِ khalqi(the) creationٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ al-rahmani(of) the Most Graciousمِن minanyتَفَٰوُتٖۖ tafawutinfaultفَٱرۡجِعِ fa-ir'ji'iSo returnٱلۡبَصَرَ al-basarathe visionهَلۡ halcanتَرَىٰ tarayou seeمِن minanyفُطُورٖ futurinflawﰂ
TRANSLITERATION
alladhi khalaqa sab'a samawatin tibaqan ma tara fi khalqi al-rahmani min tafawutin fa-ir'ji'i al-basara hal tara min futurin
English - Sahih International
[And] who created seven heavens in layers. You do not see in the creation of the Most Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your] vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks?
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
ثُمَّ thummaThenٱرۡجِعِ ir'ji'ireturnٱلۡبَصَرَ al-basarathe visionكَرَّتَيۡنِ karrataynitwice againيَنقَلِبۡ yanqalibWill returnإِلَيۡكَ ilaykato youٱلۡبَصَرُ al-basaruthe visionخَاسِئٗا khasi-anhumbledوَهُوَ wahuwawhile itحَسِيرٞ hasirun(is) fatiguedﰃ
TRANSLITERATION
thumma ir'ji'i al-basara karratayni yanqalib ilayka al-basaru khasi-an wahuwa hasirun
English - Sahih International
Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
وَلَقَدۡ walaqadAnd certainlyزَيَّنَّا zayyannaWe have beautifiedٱلسَّمَآءَ al-samaathe heavenٱلدُّنۡيَا al-dun'yanearestبِمَصَٰبِيحَ bimasabihawith lampsوَجَعَلۡنَٰهَا waja'alnahaand We have made themرُجُومٗا rujuman(as) missilesلِّلشَّيَٰطِينِۖ lilshayatinifor the devilsوَأَعۡتَدۡنَا wa-a'tadnaand We have preparedلَهُمۡ lahumfor themعَذَابَ adhabapunishmentٱلسَّعِيرِ al-sa'iri(of) the Blazeﰄ
TRANSLITERATION
walaqad zayyanna al-samaa al-dun'ya bimasabiha waja'alnaha rujuman lilshayatini wa-a'tadna lahum adhaba al-sa'iri
English - Sahih International
And We have certainly beautified the nearest heaven with stars and have made [from] them what is thrown at the devils and have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
وَلِلَّذِينَ walilladhinaAnd for those whoكَفَرُواْ kafarudisbelievedبِرَبِّهِمۡ birabbihimin their Lordعَذَابُ adhabu(is the) punishmentجَهَنَّمَۖ jahannama(of) Hellوَبِئۡسَ wabi'saand wretched isٱلۡمَصِيرُ al-masiruthe destinationﰅ
TRANSLITERATION
walilladhina kafaru birabbihim adhabu jahannama wabi'sa al-masiru
English - Sahih International
And for those who disbelieved in their Lord is the punishment of Hell, and wretched is the destination.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
إِذَآ idhaWhenأُلۡقُواْ ul'quthey are thrownفِيهَا fihathereinسَمِعُواْ sami'uthey will hearلَهَا lahafrom itشَهِيقٗا shahiqanan inhalingوَهِيَ wahiyawhile itتَفُورُ tafuruboils upﰆ
TRANSLITERATION
idha ul'qu fiha sami'u laha shahiqan wahiya tafuru
English - Sahih International
When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
تَكَادُ takaduIt almostتَمَيَّزُ tamayyazuburstsمِنَ minawithٱلۡغَيۡظِۖ al-ghayzirageكُلَّمَآ kullamaEvery timeأُلۡقِيَ ul'qiyais thrownفِيهَا fihathereinفَوۡجٞ fawjuna groupسَأَلَهُمۡ sa-alahumwill ask themخَزَنَتُهَآ khazanatuhaits keepersأَلَمۡ alamDid notيَأۡتِكُمۡ yatikumcome to youنَذِيرٞ nadhiruna warnerﰇ
TRANSLITERATION
takadu tamayyazu mina al-ghayzi kullama ul'qiya fiha fawjun sa-alahum khazanatuha alam yatikum nadhirun
English - Sahih International
It almost bursts with rage. Every time a company is thrown into it, its keepers ask them, "Did there not come to you a warner?"
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
قَالُواْ qaluThey will sayبَلَىٰ balaYesقَدۡ qadindeedجَآءَنَا jaanacame to usنَذِيرٞ nadhiruna warnerفَكَذَّبۡنَا fakadhabnabut we deniedوَقُلۡنَا waqul'naand we saidمَا maNotنَزَّلَ nazzalahas sent downٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahمِن minanyشَيۡءٍ shayinthingإِنۡ inNotأَنتُمۡ antumyou (are)إِلَّا illabutفِي fiinضَلَٰلٖ dalalinerrorكَبِيرٖ kabiringreatﰈ
TRANSLITERATION
qalu bala qad jaana nadhirun fakadhabna waqul'na ma nazzala al-lahu min shayin in antum illa fi dalalin kabirin
English - Sahih International
They will say," Yes, a warner had come to us, but we denied and said, 'Allah has not sent down anything. You are not but in great error.'"
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
وَقَالُواْ waqaluAnd they will sayلَوۡ lawIfكُنَّا kunnawe hadنَسۡمَعُ nasma'ulistenedأَوۡ aworنَعۡقِلُ na'qilureasonedمَا manotكُنَّا kunnawe (would) have beenفِيٓ fiamongأَصۡحَٰبِ ashabi(the) companionsٱلسَّعِيرِ al-sa'iri(of) the Blazeﰉ
TRANSLITERATION
waqalu law kunna nasma'u aw na'qilu ma kunna fi ashabi al-sa'iri
English - Sahih International
And they will say, "If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze."
