Ayah 1 Play Ayah
ٱقۡتَرَبَتِ iq'tarabatiHas come nearٱلسَّاعَةُ al-sa'atuthe Hourوَٱنشَقَّ wa-inshaqqaand has splitٱلۡقَمَرُ al-qamaruthe moon
TRANSLITERATION
iq'tarabati al-sa'atu wa-inshaqqa al-qamaru
English - Sahih International
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two].
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
وَإِن wa-inAnd ifيَرَوۡاْ yarawthey seeءَايَةٗ ayatana Signيُعۡرِضُواْ yu'riduthey turn awayوَيَقُولُواْ wayaquluand sayسِحۡرٞ sih'runMagicمُّسۡتَمِرّٞ mus'tamirruncontinuing
TRANSLITERATION
wa-in yaraw ayatan yu'ridu wayaqulu sih'run mus'tamirrun
English - Sahih International
And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic."
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
وَكَذَّبُواْ wakadhabuAnd they deniedوَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ wa-ittaba'uand followedأَهۡوَآءَهُمۡۚ ahwaahumtheir desiresوَكُلُّ wakullubut (for) everyأَمۡرٖ amrinmatterمُّسۡتَقِرّٞ mus'taqirrun(will be a) settlement
TRANSLITERATION
wakadhabu wa-ittaba'u ahwaahum wakullu amrin mus'taqirrun
English - Sahih International
And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
وَلَقَدۡ walaqadAnd certainlyجَآءَهُم jaahumhas come to themمِّنَ minaofٱلۡأَنۢبَآءِ al-anbaithe informationمَا mawhereinفِيهِ fihiwhereinمُزۡدَجَرٌ muz'dajarun(is) deterrence
TRANSLITERATION
walaqad jaahum mina al-anbai ma fihi muz'dajarun
English - Sahih International
And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence -
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
حِكۡمَةُۢ hik'matunWisdomبَٰلِغَةٞۖ balighatunperfectفَمَا famabut notتُغۡنِ tugh'niwill availٱلنُّذُرُ al-nudhuruthe warnings
TRANSLITERATION
hik'matun balighatun fama tugh'ni al-nudhuru
English - Sahih International
Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them].
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
فَتَوَلَّ fatawallaSo turn awayعَنۡهُمۡۘ anhumfrom themيَوۡمَ yawma(The) Dayيَدۡعُ yad'uwill callٱلدَّاعِ al-da'ithe callerإِلَىٰ ilatoشَيۡءٖ shayina thingنُّكُرٍ nukurinterrible
TRANSLITERATION
fatawalla anhum yawma yad'u al-da'i ila shayin nukurin
English - Sahih International
So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding,

Ayah 7 Play Ayah
خُشَّعًا khusha'an(Will be) humbledأَبۡصَٰرُهُمۡ absaruhumtheir eyesيَخۡرُجُونَ yakhrujunathey will come forthمِنَ minafromٱلۡأَجۡدَاثِ al-ajdathithe gravesكَأَنَّهُمۡ ka-annahumas if they (were)جَرَادٞ jaradunlocustsمُّنتَشِرٞ muntashirunspreading
TRANSLITERATION
khusha'an absaruhum yakhrujuna mina al-ajdathi ka-annahum jaradun muntashirun
English - Sahih International
Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading,
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
مُّهۡطِعِينَ muh'ti'inaRacing aheadإِلَى ilatowardٱلدَّاعِۖ al-da'ithe callerيَقُولُ yaquluWill sayٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ al-kafirunathe disbelieversهَٰذَا hadhaThisيَوۡمٌ yawmun(is) a Dayعَسِرٞ asirundifficult
TRANSLITERATION
muh'ti'ina ila al-da'i yaqulu al-kafiruna hadha yawmun asirun
English - Sahih International
Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day."
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
۞كَذَّبَتۡ kadhabatDeniedقَبۡلَهُمۡ qablahumbefore themقَوۡمُ qawmu(the) peopleنُوحٖ nuhin(of) Nuhفَكَذَّبُواْ fakadhabuand they deniedعَبۡدَنَا abdanaOur slaveوَقَالُواْ waqaluand saidمَجۡنُونٞ majnununA madmanوَٱزۡدُجِرَ wa-uz'dujiraand he was repelled
TRANSLITERATION
kadhabat qablahum qawmu nuhin fakadhabu abdana waqalu majnunun wa-uz'dujira
English - Sahih International
The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
فَدَعَا fada'aSo he calledرَبَّهُۥٓ rabbahuhis Lordأَنِّي anniI amمَغۡلُوبٞ maghlubunone overpoweredفَٱنتَصِرۡ fa-intasirso help
TRANSLITERATION
fada'a rabbahu anni maghlubun fa-intasir
English - Sahih International
So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help."
