Ayah 1 Play Ayah
ٱقۡتَرَبَ iq'taraba(Has) approachedلِلنَّاسِ lilnnasifor [the] mankindحِسَابُهُمۡ hisabuhumtheir accountوَهُمۡ wahumwhile theyفِي fi(are) inغَفۡلَةٖ ghaflatinheedlessnessمُّعۡرِضُونَ mu'ridunaturning awayﰀ
TRANSLITERATION
iq'taraba lilnnasi hisabuhum wahum fi ghaflatin mu'riduna
English - Sahih International
[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away.
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
مَا maNotيَأۡتِيهِم yatihimcomes to themمِّن minofذِكۡرٖ dhik'rina Reminderمِّن minfromرَّبِّهِم rabbihimtheir Lordمُّحۡدَثٍ muh'dathinanewإِلَّا illaexceptٱسۡتَمَعُوهُ is'tama'uhuthey listen to itوَهُمۡ wahumwhile theyيَلۡعَبُونَ yal'abuna(are at) playﰁ
TRANSLITERATION
ma yatihim min dhik'rin min rabbihim muh'dathin illa is'tama'uhu wahum yal'abuna
English - Sahih International
No mention comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
لَاهِيَةٗ lahiyatanDistractedقُلُوبُهُمۡۗ qulubuhumtheir heartsوَأَسَرُّواْ wa-asarruAnd they concealٱلنَّجۡوَى al-najwathe private conversationٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoظَلَمُواْ zalamu[they] wrongedهَلۡ halIsهَٰذَآ hadhathisإِلَّا illaexceptبَشَرٞ basharuna human beingمِّثۡلُكُمۡۖ mith'lukumlike youأَفَتَأۡتُونَ afatatunaSo would you approachٱلسِّحۡرَ al-sih'rathe magicوَأَنتُمۡ wa-antumwhile youتُبۡصِرُونَ tub'sirunasee (it)ﰂ
TRANSLITERATION
lahiyatan qulubuhum wa-asarru al-najwa alladhina zalamu hal hadha illa basharun mith'lukum afatatuna al-sih'ra wa-antum tub'siruna
English - Sahih International
With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?"
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
قَالَ qalaHe saidرَبِّي rabbiMy Lordيَعۡلَمُ ya'lamuknowsٱلۡقَوۡلَ al-qawlathe wordفِي fiinٱلسَّمَآءِ al-samaithe heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ wal-ardiand the earthوَهُوَ wahuwaAnd Heٱلسَّمِيعُ al-sami'u(is) the All-Hearerٱلۡعَلِيمُ al-'alimuthe All-Knowerﰃ
TRANSLITERATION
qala rabbi ya'lamu al-qawla fi al-samai wal-ardi wahuwa al-sami'u al-'alimu
English - Sahih International
The Prophet said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing."
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
بَلۡ balNayقَالُوٓاْ qaluthey sayأَضۡغَٰثُ adghathuMuddledأَحۡلَٰمِۭ ahlamindreamsبَلِ balinayٱفۡتَرَىٰهُ if'tarahuhe (has) invented itبَلۡ balnayهُوَ huwaheشَاعِرٞ sha'irun(is) a poetفَلۡيَأۡتِنَا falyatinaSo let him bring usبِـَٔايَةٖ biayatina signكَمَآ kamalike whatأُرۡسِلَ ur'silawas sentٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ al-awaluna(to) the formerﰄ
TRANSLITERATION
bal qalu adghathu ahlamin bali if'tarahu bal huwa sha'irun falyatina biayatin kama ur'sila al-awaluna
English - Sahih International
But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
مَآ maNotءَامَنَتۡ amanatbelievedقَبۡلَهُم qablahumbefore themمِّن minanyقَرۡيَةٍ qaryatintownأَهۡلَكۡنَٰهَآۖ ahlaknahawhich We destroyedأَفَهُمۡ afahumso will theyيُؤۡمِنُونَ yu'minunabelieveﰅ
TRANSLITERATION
ma amanat qablahum min qaryatin ahlaknaha afahum yu'minuna
English - Sahih International
Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe?
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
وَمَآ wamaAnd notأَرۡسَلۡنَا arsalnaWe sentقَبۡلَكَ qablakabefore youإِلَّا illaexceptرِجَالٗا rijalanmenنُّوحِيٓ nuhiWe revealedإِلَيۡهِمۡۖ ilayhimto themفَسۡـَٔلُوٓاْ fasaluSo askأَهۡلَ ahla(the) peopleٱلذِّكۡرِ al-dhik'ri(of) the Reminderإِن inifكُنتُمۡ kuntumyouلَا la(do) notتَعۡلَمُونَ ta'lamunaknowﰆ
TRANSLITERATION
wama arsalna qablaka illa rijalan nuhi ilayhim fasalu ahla al-dhik'ri in kuntum la ta'lamuna
English - Sahih International
And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
وَمَا wamaAnd notجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ ja'alnahumWe made themجَسَدٗا jasadanbodiesلَّا lanotيَأۡكُلُونَ yakulunaeatingٱلطَّعَامَ al-ta'amathe foodوَمَا wamaand notكَانُواْ kanuthey wereخَٰلِدِينَ khalidinaimmortalsﰇ
TRANSLITERATION
wama ja'alnahum jasadan la yakuluna al-ta'ama wama kanu khalidina
English - Sahih International
And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth].
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
ثُمَّ thummaThenصَدَقۡنَٰهُمُ sadaqnahumuWe fulfilled (for) themٱلۡوَعۡدَ al-wa'dathe promiseفَأَنجَيۡنَٰهُمۡ fa-anjaynahumand We saved themوَمَن wamanand whomنَّشَآءُ nashauWe willedوَأَهۡلَكۡنَا wa-ahlaknaand We destroyedٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ al-mus'rifinathe transgressorsﰈ
TRANSLITERATION
thumma sadaqnahumu al-wa'da fa-anjaynahum waman nashau wa-ahlakna al-mus'rifina
English - Sahih International
Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
لَقَدۡ laqadIndeedأَنزَلۡنَآ anzalnaWe (have) sent downإِلَيۡكُمۡ ilaykumto youكِتَٰبٗا kitabana Bookفِيهِ fihiin itذِكۡرُكُمۡۚ dhik'rukum(is) your mentionأَفَلَا afalaThen will notتَعۡقِلُونَ ta'qilunayou use reasonﰉ
TRANSLITERATION
laqad anzalna ilaykum kitaban fihi dhik'rukum afala ta'qiluna
English - Sahih International
We have certainly sent down to you a Book in which is your mention. Then will you not reason?
