مَا maWhatٱلۡحَآقَّةُ al-haqatu(is) the Inevitable Reality

What is the Inevitable Reality?
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
وَمَآ wamaAnd whatأَدۡرَىٰكَ adrakawill make you knowمَا mawhatٱلۡحَآقَّةُ al-haqatu(is) the Inevitable Reality

wama adraka ma al-haqatu

And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
كَذَّبَتۡ kadhabatDeniedثَمُودُ thamuduThamudوَعَادُۢ wa'adunand Aadبِٱلۡقَارِعَةِ bil-qari'atithe Striking Calamity
TRANSLITERATION
kadhabat thamudu wa'adun bil-qari'ati
English - Sahih International
Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
فَأَمَّا fa-ammaSo as forثَمُودُ thamuduThamudفَأُهۡلِكُواْ fa-uh'likuthey were destroyedبِٱلطَّاغِيَةِ bil-taghiyatiby the overpowering (blast)
TRANSLITERATION
fa-amma thamudu fa-uh'liku bil-taghiyati
English - Sahih International
So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
وَأَمَّا wa-ammaAnd as forعَادٞ adunAadفَأُهۡلِكُواْ fa-uh'likuthey were destroyedبِرِيحٖ birihinby a windصَرۡصَرٍ sarsarinscreamingعَاتِيَةٖ atiyatinviolent

wa-amma adun fa-uh'liku birihin sarsarin atiyatin

And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
سَخَّرَهَا sakharahaWhich He imposedعَلَيۡهِمۡ alayhimupon themسَبۡعَ sab'a(for) sevenلَيَالٖ layalinnightsوَثَمَٰنِيَةَ wathamaniyataand eightأَيَّامٍ ayyamindaysحُسُومٗاۖ husuman(in) successionفَتَرَى fataraso you would seeٱلۡقَوۡمَ al-qawmathe peopleفِيهَا fihathereinصَرۡعَىٰ sar'afallenكَأَنَّهُمۡ ka-annahumas if they wereأَعۡجَازُ a'jazutrunksنَخۡلٍ nakhlin(of) date-palmsخَاوِيَةٖ khawiyatinhollow
TRANSLITERATION
sakharaha alayhim sab'a layalin wathamaniyata ayyamin husuman fatara al-qawma fiha sar'a ka-annahum a'jazu nakhlin khawiyatin
English - Sahih International
Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
فَهَلۡ fahalThen doتَرَىٰ tarayou seeلَهُم lahumof themمِّنۢ minanyبَاقِيَةٖ baqiyatinremains
TRANSLITERATION
fahal tara lahum min baqiyatin
English - Sahih International
Then do you see of them any remains?

Ayah 9 Play Ayah
وَجَآءَ wajaaAnd cameفِرۡعَوۡنُ fir'awnuFiraunوَمَن wamanand (those)قَبۡلَهُۥ qablahubefore himوَٱلۡمُؤۡتَفِكَٰتُ wal-mu'tafikatuand the overturned citiesبِٱلۡخَاطِئَةِ bil-khati-atiwith sin
TRANSLITERATION
wajaa fir'awnu waman qablahu wal-mu'tafikatu bil-khati-ati

And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
فَعَصَوۡاْ fa'asawAnd they disobeyedرَسُولَ rasula(the) Messengerرَبِّهِمۡ rabbihim(of) their Lordفَأَخَذَهُمۡ fa-akhadhahumso He seized themأَخۡذَةٗ akhdhatan(with) a seizureرَّابِيَةً rabiyatanexceeding
TRANSLITERATION
fa'asaw rasula rabbihim fa-akhadhahum akhdhatan rabiyatan
English - Sahih International
And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity].
