Ayah 1 Play Ayah
سَبَّحَ sabbahaGlorifiesلِلَّهِ lillahi[to] Allahمَا mawhateverفِي fi(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ al-samawatithe heavensوَمَا wamaand whateverفِي fi(is) inٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ al-ardithe earthوَهُوَ wahuwaAnd Heٱلۡعَزِيزُ al-'azizu(is) the All-Mightyٱلۡحَكِيمُ al-hakimuthe All-Wise
TRANSLITERATION
sabbaha lillahi ma fi al-samawati wama fi al-ardi wahuwa al-'azizu al-hakimu
English - Sahih International
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts Allah, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
هُوَ huwaHeٱلَّذِيٓ alladhi(is) the One Whoأَخۡرَجَ akhrajaexpelledٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoكَفَرُواْ kafarudisbelievedمِنۡ minfromأَهۡلِ ahli(the) Peopleٱلۡكِتَٰبِ al-kitabi(of) the Scriptureمِن minfromدِيَٰرِهِمۡ diyarihimtheir homesلِأَوَّلِ li-awwaliat (the) firstٱلۡحَشۡرِۚ al-hashrigatheringمَا maNotظَنَنتُمۡ zanantumyou thinkأَن anthatيَخۡرُجُواْۖ yakhrujuthey would leaveوَظَنُّوٓاْ wazannuand they thoughtأَنَّهُم annahumthat [they]مَّانِعَتُهُمۡ mani'atuhumwould defend themحُصُونُهُم husunuhumtheir fortressesمِّنَ minaagainstٱللَّهِ al-lahiAllahفَأَتَىٰهُمُ fa-atahumuBut came to themٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahمِنۡ minfromحَيۡثُ haythuwhereلَمۡ lamnotيَحۡتَسِبُواْۖ yahtasibuthey expectedوَقَذَفَ waqadhafaand He castفِي fiintoقُلُوبِهِمُ qulubihimutheir heartsٱلرُّعۡبَۚ al-ru'ba[the] terrorيُخۡرِبُونَ yukh'ribunathey destroyedبُيُوتَهُم buyutahumtheir housesبِأَيۡدِيهِمۡ bi-aydihimwith their handsوَأَيۡدِي wa-aydiand the handsٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ al-mu'minina(of) the believersفَٱعۡتَبِرُواْ fa-i'tabiruSo take a lessonيَـٰٓأُوْلِي yauliO those endowedٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرِ al-absari(with) insight
TRANSLITERATION
huwa alladhi akhraja alladhina kafaru min ahli al-kitabi min diyarihim li-awwali al-hashri ma zanantum an yakhruju wazannu annahum mani'atuhum husunuhum mina al-lahi fa-atahumu al-lahu min haythu lam yahtasibu waqadhafa fi qulubihimu al-ru'ba yukh'ribuna buyutahum bi-aydihim wa-aydi al-mu'minina fa-i'tabiru yauli al-absari
English - Sahih International
It is He who expelled the ones who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allah; but [the decree of] Allah came upon them from where they had not expected, and He cast terror into their hearts [so] they destroyed their houses by their [own] hands and the hands of the believers. So take warning, O people of vision.
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
وَلَوۡلَآ walawlaAnd if notأَن an[that]كَتَبَ kataba(had) decreedٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahعَلَيۡهِمُ alayhimufor themٱلۡجَلَآءَ al-jalaathe exileلَعَذَّبَهُمۡ la'adhabahumcertainly He (would) have punished themفِي fiinٱلدُّنۡيَاۖ al-dun'yathe worldوَلَهُمۡ walahumand for themفِي fiinٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ al-akhiratithe Hereafterعَذَابُ adhabu(is) a punishmentٱلنَّارِ al-nari(of) the Fire
TRANSLITERATION
walawla an kataba al-lahu alayhimu al-jalaa la'adhabahum fi al-dun'ya walahum fi al-akhirati adhabu al-nari
English - Sahih International
And if not that Allah had decreed for them evacuation, He would have punished them in [this] world, and for them in the Hereafter is the punishment of the Fire.

Ayah 4 Play Ayah
ذَٰلِكَ dhalikaThatبِأَنَّهُمۡ bi-annahum(is) because [they]شَآقُّواْ shaqquthey opposedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥۖ warasulahuand His Messengerوَمَن wamanAnd whoeverيُشَآقِّ yushaqqiopposesٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahفَإِنَّ fa-innathen indeedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahشَدِيدُ shadidu(is) severeٱلۡعِقَابِ al-'iqabi(in) penalty
TRANSLITERATION
dhalika bi-annahum shaqqu al-laha warasulahu waman yushaqqi al-laha fa-inna al-laha shadidu al-'iqabi
English - Sahih International
That is because they opposed Allah and His Messenger. And whoever opposes Allah - then indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
مَا maWhateverقَطَعۡتُم qata'tumyou cut downمِّن minofلِّينَةٍ linatin(the) palm-treesأَوۡ aworتَرَكۡتُمُوهَا taraktumuhayou left themقَآئِمَةً qaimatanstandingعَلَىٰٓ alaonأُصُولِهَا usulihatheir rootsفَبِإِذۡنِ fabi-idh'niit (was) by the permissionٱللَّهِ al-lahi(of) Allahوَلِيُخۡزِيَ waliyukh'ziyaand that He may disgraceٱلۡفَٰسِقِينَ al-fasiqinathe defiantly disobedient
TRANSLITERATION
ma qata'tum min linatin aw taraktumuha qaimatan ala usuliha fabi-idh'ni al-lahi waliyukh'ziya al-fasiqina
English - Sahih International
Whatever you have cut down of [their] palm trees or left standing on their trunks - it was by permission of Allah and so He would disgrace the defiantly disobedient.
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
وَمَآ wamaAnd whatأَفَآءَ afaa(was) restoredٱللَّهُ al-lahu(by) Allahعَلَىٰ alatoرَسُولِهِۦ rasulihiHis Messengerمِنۡهُمۡ min'humfrom themفَمَآ famathen notأَوۡجَفۡتُمۡ awjaftumyou made expeditionعَلَيۡهِ alayhifor itمِنۡ minofخَيۡلٖ khaylinhorsesوَلَا walaand notرِكَابٖ rikabincamelsوَلَٰكِنَّ walakinnabutٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahيُسَلِّطُ yusallitugives powerرُسُلَهُۥ rusulahu(to) His Messengersعَلَىٰ alaoverمَن manwhomيَشَآءُۚ yashauHe willsوَٱللَّهُ wal-lahuAnd Allahعَلَىٰ ala(is) onكُلِّ kullieveryشَيۡءٖ shayinthingقَدِيرٞ qadirunAll-Powerful
TRANSLITERATION
wama afaa al-lahu ala rasulihi min'hum fama awjaftum alayhi min khaylin wala rikabin walakinna al-laha yusallitu rusulahu ala man yashau wal-lahu ala kulli shayin qadirun
English - Sahih International
And what Allah restored [of property] to His Messenger from them - you did not spur for it [in an expedition] any horses or camels, but Allah gives His messengers power over whom He wills, and Allah is over all things competent.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
مَّآ maWhatأَفَآءَ afaa(was) restoredٱللَّهُ al-lahu(by) Allahعَلَىٰ alatoرَسُولِهِۦ rasulihiHis Messengerمِنۡ minfromأَهۡلِ ahli(the) peopleٱلۡقُرَىٰ al-qura(of) the townsفَلِلَّهِ falillahi(it is) for Allahوَلِلرَّسُولِ walilrrasuliand His Messengerوَلِذِي walidhiand for thoseٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ al-qur'ba(of) the kindredوَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ wal-yatamaand the orphansوَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينِ wal-masakiniand the needyوَٱبۡنِ wa-ib'niandٱلسَّبِيلِ al-sabilithe wayfarerكَيۡ kaythatلَا lanotيَكُونَ yakunait becomesدُولَةَۢ dulatana (perpetual) circulationبَيۡنَ baynabetweenٱلۡأَغۡنِيَآءِ al-aghniyaithe richمِنكُمۡۚ minkumamong youوَمَآ wamaAnd whateverءَاتَىٰكُمُ atakumugives youٱلرَّسُولُ al-rasuluthe Messengerفَخُذُوهُ fakhudhuhutake itوَمَا wamaand whateverنَهَىٰكُمۡ nahakumhe forbids youعَنۡهُ anhufrom itفَٱنتَهُواْۚ fa-intahurefrainوَٱتَّقُواْ wa-ittaquAnd fearٱللَّهَۖ al-lahaAllahإِنَّ innaIndeedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahشَدِيدُ shadidu(is) severeٱلۡعِقَابِ al-'iqabi(in) penalty
TRANSLITERATION
ma afaa al-lahu ala rasulihi min ahli al-qura falillahi walilrrasuli walidhi al-qur'ba wal-yatama wal-masakini wa-ib'ni al-sabili kay la yakuna dulatan bayna al-aghniyai minkum wama atakumu al-rasulu fakhudhuhu wama nahakum anhu fa-intahu wa-ittaqu al-laha inna al-laha shadidu al-'iqabi
English - Sahih International
And what Allah restored to His Messenger from the people of the towns - it is for Allah and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and orphans and the [stranded] traveler - so that it will not be a perpetual distribution among the rich from among you. And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
لِلۡفُقَرَآءِ lil'fuqaraiFor the poorٱلۡمُهَٰجِرِينَ al-muhajirinaemigrantsٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoأُخۡرِجُواْ ukh'rijuwere expelledمِن minfromدِيَٰرِهِمۡ diyarihimtheir homesوَأَمۡوَٰلِهِمۡ wa-amwalihimand their propertiesيَبۡتَغُونَ yabtaghunaseekingفَضۡلٗا fadlanbountyمِّنَ minafromٱللَّهِ al-lahiAllahوَرِضۡوَٰنٗا warid'wananand pleasureوَيَنصُرُونَ wayansurunaand helpingٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥٓۚ warasulahuand His Messengerأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ulaikaThoseهُمُ humutheyٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ al-sadiquna(are) the truthful
TRANSLITERATION
lil'fuqarai al-muhajirina alladhina ukh'riju min diyarihim wa-amwalihim yabtaghuna fadlan mina al-lahi warid'wanan wayansuruna al-laha warasulahu ulaika humu al-sadiquna
English - Sahih International
For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allah and [His] approval and supporting Allah and His Messenger, [there is also a share]. Those are the truthful.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhinaAnd those whoتَبَوَّءُو tabawwausettledٱلدَّارَ al-dara(in) the homeوَٱلۡإِيمَٰنَ wal-imanaand (accepted) faithمِن minfromقَبۡلِهِمۡ qablihimbefore themيُحِبُّونَ yuhibbunaloveمَنۡ man(those) whoهَاجَرَ hajaraemigratedإِلَيۡهِمۡ ilayhimto themوَلَا walaand notيَجِدُونَ yajidunathey findفِي fiinصُدُورِهِمۡ sudurihimtheir breastsحَاجَةٗ hajatanany wantمِّمَّآ mimmaof whatأُوتُواْ ututhey were givenوَيُؤۡثِرُونَ wayu'thirunabut preferعَلَىٰٓ alaoverأَنفُسِهِمۡ anfusihimthemselvesوَلَوۡ walaweven thoughكَانَ kanawasبِهِمۡ bihimwith themخَصَاصَةٞۚ khasasatunpovertyوَمَن wamanAnd whoeverيُوقَ yuqais savedشُحَّ shuhha(from) stinginessنَفۡسِهِۦ nafsihi(of) his soulفَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ fa-ulaikathen thoseهُمُ humu[they]ٱلۡمُفۡلِحُونَ al-muf'lihuna(are) the successful ones
TRANSLITERATION
wa-alladhina tabawwau al-dara wal-imana min qablihim yuhibbuna man hajara ilayhim wala yajiduna fi sudurihim hajatan mimma utu wayu'thiruna ala anfusihim walaw kana bihim khasasatun waman yuqa shuhha nafsihi fa-ulaika humu al-muf'lihuna
English - Sahih International
And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.

Ayah 10 Play Ayah
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhinaAnd those whoجَآءُو jaucameمِنۢ minfromبَعۡدِهِمۡ ba'dihimafter themيَقُولُونَ yaqulunathey sayرَبَّنَا rabbanaOur Lordٱغۡفِرۡ igh'firforgiveلَنَا lanausوَلِإِخۡوَٰنِنَا wali-ikh'waninaand our brothersٱلَّذِينَ alladhinawhoسَبَقُونَا sabaqunapreceded usبِٱلۡإِيمَٰنِ bil-imaniin faithوَلَا walaand (do) notتَجۡعَلۡ taj'alputفِي fiinقُلُوبِنَا qulubinaour heartsغِلّٗا ghillanany rancorلِّلَّذِينَ lilladhinatowards those whoءَامَنُواْ amanubelievedرَبَّنَآ rabbanaOur Lordإِنَّكَ innakaindeed Youرَءُوفٞ raufun(are) Full of Kindnessرَّحِيمٌ rahimunMost Merciful
TRANSLITERATION
wa-alladhina jau min ba'dihim yaquluna rabbana igh'fir lana wali-ikh'wanina alladhina sabaquna bil-imani wala taj'al fi qulubina ghillan lilladhina amanu rabbana innaka raufun rahimun
English - Sahih International
And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful."
