Ayah 1 Play Ayah
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuhaO (you who)ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina(O) you whoءَامَنُواْ amanubelieveلَا la(Do) notتُقَدِّمُواْ tuqaddimuput (yourselves) forwardبَيۡنَ baynabefore Allahيَدَيِ yadayibefore Allahٱللَّهِ al-lahibefore Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦۖ warasulihiand His Messengerوَٱتَّقُواْ wa-ittaquand fearٱللَّهَۚ al-lahaAllahإِنَّ innaIndeedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahسَمِيعٌ sami'un(is) All-Hearerعَلِيمٞ alimunAll-Knowerﰀ
TRANSLITERATION
yaayyuha alladhina amanu la tuqaddimu bayna yadayi al-lahi warasulihi wa-ittaqu al-laha inna al-laha sami'un alimun
English - Sahih International
O you who have believed, do not put [yourselves] before Allah and His Messenger but fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuhaO (you who)ٱلَّذِينَ alladhina(O) you whoءَامَنُواْ amanubelieveلَا la(Do) notتَرۡفَعُوٓاْ tarfa'uraiseأَصۡوَٰتَكُمۡ aswatakumyour voicesفَوۡقَ fawqaaboveصَوۡتِ sawti(the) voiceٱلنَّبِيِّ al-nabiyi(of) the Prophetوَلَا walaand (do) notتَجۡهَرُواْ tajharube loudلَهُۥ lahuto himبِٱلۡقَوۡلِ bil-qawliin speechكَجَهۡرِ kajahrilike (the) loudnessبَعۡضِكُمۡ ba'dikum(of) some of youلِبَعۡضٍ liba'dinto othersأَن anlestتَحۡبَطَ tahbatabecome worthlessأَعۡمَٰلُكُمۡ a'malukumyour deedsوَأَنتُمۡ wa-antumwhile youلَا la(do) notتَشۡعُرُونَ tash'urunaperceiveﰁ
TRANSLITERATION
yaayyuha alladhina amanu la tarfa'u aswatakum fawqa sawti al-nabiyi wala tajharu lahu bil-qawli kajahri ba'dikum liba'din an tahbata a'malukum wa-antum la tash'uruna
English - Sahih International
O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the loudness of some of you to others, lest your deeds become worthless while you perceive not.
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
إِنَّ innaIndeedٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoيَغُضُّونَ yaghuddunalowerأَصۡوَٰتَهُمۡ aswatahumtheir voicesعِندَ inda(in) presenceرَسُولِ rasuli(of the) Messenger of Allahٱللَّهِ al-lahi(of the) Messenger of Allahأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ulaikathoseٱلَّذِينَ alladhina(are) the onesٱمۡتَحَنَ im'tahanaAllah has testedٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllah has testedقُلُوبَهُمۡ qulubahumtheir heartsلِلتَّقۡوَىٰۚ lilttaqwafor righteousnessلَهُم lahumFor themمَّغۡفِرَةٞ maghfiratun(is) forgivenessوَأَجۡرٌ wa-ajrunand a rewardعَظِيمٌ azimungreatﰂ
TRANSLITERATION
inna alladhina yaghudduna aswatahum inda rasuli al-lahi ulaika alladhina im'tahana al-lahu qulubahum lilttaqwa lahum maghfiratun wa-ajrun azimun
English - Sahih International
Indeed, those who lower their voices before the Messenger of Allah - they are the ones whose hearts Allah has tested for righteousness. For them is forgiveness and great reward.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
إِنَّ innaIndeedٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoيُنَادُونَكَ yunadunakacall youمِن minfromوَرَآءِ waraibehindٱلۡحُجُرَٰتِ al-hujuratithe private chambersأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ aktharuhummost of themلَا la(do) notيَعۡقِلُونَ ya'qilunaunderstandﰃ
TRANSLITERATION
inna alladhina yunadunaka min warai al-hujurati aktharuhum la ya'qiluna
English - Sahih International
Indeed, those who call you, [O Muhammad], from behind the chambers - most of them do not use reason.

Ayah 5 Play Ayah
وَلَوۡ walawAnd ifأَنَّهُمۡ annahumtheyصَبَرُواْ sabaruhad been patientحَتَّىٰ hattauntilتَخۡرُجَ takhrujayou came outإِلَيۡهِمۡ ilayhimto themلَكَانَ lakanacertainly it would beخَيۡرٗا khayranbetterلَّهُمۡۚ lahumfor themوَٱللَّهُ wal-lahuAnd Allahغَفُورٞ ghafurun(is) Oft-Forgivingرَّحِيمٞ rahimunMost Mercifulﰄ
TRANSLITERATION
walaw annahum sabaru hatta takhruja ilayhim lakana khayran lahum wal-lahu ghafurun rahimun
English - Sahih International
And if they had been patient until you [could] come out to them, it would have been better for them. But Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuhaO you who believeٱلَّذِينَ alladhinaO you who believeءَامَنُوٓاْ amanuO you who believeإِن inIfجَآءَكُمۡ jaakumcomes to youفَاسِقُۢ fasiquna wicked personبِنَبَإٖ binaba-inwith informationفَتَبَيَّنُوٓاْ fatabayyanuinvestigateأَن anlestتُصِيبُواْ tusibuyou harmقَوۡمَۢا qawmana peopleبِجَهَٰلَةٖ bijahalatinin ignoranceفَتُصۡبِحُواْ fatus'bihuthen you becomeعَلَىٰ alaoverمَا mawhatفَعَلۡتُمۡ fa'altumyou have doneنَٰدِمِينَ nadiminaregretfulﰅ
TRANSLITERATION
yaayyuha alladhina amanu in jaakum fasiqun binaba-in fatabayyanu an tusibu qawman bijahalatin fatus'bihu ala ma fa'altum nadimina
English - Sahih International
O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ wa-i'lamuAnd knowأَنَّ annathatفِيكُمۡ fikumamong youرَسُولَ rasula(is the) Messenger of Allahٱللَّهِۚ al-lahi(is the) Messenger of Allahلَوۡ lawIfيُطِيعُكُمۡ yuti'ukumhe were to obey youفِي fiinكَثِيرٖ kathirinmuchمِّنَ minaofٱلۡأَمۡرِ al-amrithe matterلَعَنِتُّمۡ la'anittumsurely you would be in difficultyوَلَٰكِنَّ walakinnabutٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahحَبَّبَ habbabahas endearedإِلَيۡكُمُ ilaykumuto youٱلۡإِيمَٰنَ al-imanathe Faithوَزَيَّنَهُۥ wazayyanahuand has made it pleasingفِي fiinقُلُوبِكُمۡ qulubikumyour heartsوَكَرَّهَ wakarrahaand has made hatefulإِلَيۡكُمُ ilaykumuto youٱلۡكُفۡرَ al-kuf'radisbeliefوَٱلۡفُسُوقَ wal-fusuqaand defianceوَٱلۡعِصۡيَانَۚ wal-'is'yanaand disobedienceأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ulaikaThoseهُمُ humu(are) theyٱلرَّـٰشِدُونَ al-rashidunathe guided onesﰆ
TRANSLITERATION
wa-i'lamu anna fikum rasula al-lahi law yuti'ukum fi kathirin mina al-amri la'anittum walakinna al-laha habbaba ilaykumu al-imana wazayyanahu fi qulubikum wakarraha ilaykumu al-kuf'ra wal-fusuqa wal-'is'yana ulaika humu al-rashiduna
English - Sahih International
And know that among you is the Messenger of Allah. If he were to obey you in much of the matter, you would be in difficulty, but Allah has endeared to you the faith and has made it pleasing in your hearts and has made hateful to you disbelief, defiance and disobedience. Those are the [rightly] guided.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
فَضۡلٗا fadlanA Bountyمِّنَ minafrom Allahٱللَّهِ al-lahifrom Allahوَنِعۡمَةٗۚ wani'matanand favorوَٱللَّهُ wal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌ alimun(is) All-Knowerحَكِيمٞ hakimunAll-Wiseﰇ
TRANSLITERATION
fadlan mina al-lahi wani'matan wal-lahu alimun hakimun
English - Sahih International
[It is] as bounty from Allah and favor. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
وَإِن wa-inAnd ifطَآئِفَتَانِ taifatanitwo partiesمِنَ minaamongٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ al-mu'mininathe believersٱقۡتَتَلُواْ iq'tatalufightفَأَصۡلِحُواْ fa-aslihuthen make peaceبَيۡنَهُمَاۖ baynahumabetween both of themفَإِنۢ fa-inBut ifبَغَتۡ baghatoppressesإِحۡدَىٰهُمَا ih'dahumaone of themعَلَى alaonٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰ al-ukh'rathe otherفَقَٰتِلُواْ faqatiluthen fightٱلَّتِي allatione whichتَبۡغِي tabghioppressesحَتَّىٰ hattauntilتَفِيٓءَ tafiait returnsإِلَىٰٓ ilatoأَمۡرِ amri(the) commandٱللَّهِۚ al-lahi(of) Allahفَإِن fa-inThen ifفَآءَتۡ faatit returnsفَأَصۡلِحُواْ fa-aslihuthen make peaceبَيۡنَهُمَا baynahumabetween themبِٱلۡعَدۡلِ bil-'adliwith justiceوَأَقۡسِطُوٓاْۖ wa-aqsituand act justlyإِنَّ innaIndeedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahيُحِبُّ yuhibbulovesٱلۡمُقۡسِطِينَ al-muq'sitinathose who act justlyﰈ
TRANSLITERATION
wa-in taifatani mina al-mu'minina iq'tatalu fa-aslihu baynahuma fa-in baghat ih'dahuma ala al-ukh'ra faqatilu allati tabghi hatta tafia ila amri al-lahi fa-in faat fa-aslihu baynahuma bil-'adli wa-aqsitu inna al-laha yuhibbu al-muq'sitina
English - Sahih International
And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of Allah. And if it returns, then make settlement between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
إِنَّمَا innamaOnlyٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ al-mu'minunathe believersإِخۡوَةٞ ikh'watun(are) brothersفَأَصۡلِحُواْ fa-aslihuso make peaceبَيۡنَ baynabetweenأَخَوَيۡكُمۡۚ akhawaykumyour brothersوَٱتَّقُواْ wa-ittaquand fear Allahٱللَّهَ al-lahaand fear Allahلَعَلَّكُمۡ la'allakumso that you mayتُرۡحَمُونَ tur'hamunareceive mercyﰉ
TRANSLITERATION
innama al-mu'minuna ikh'watun fa-aslihu bayna akhawaykum wa-ittaqu al-laha la'allakum tur'hamuna
English - Sahih International
The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.
