Ayah 1 Play Ayah
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا yaayyuhaOٱلنَّاسُ al-nasumankindٱتَّقُواْ ittaquFearرَبَّكُمُ rabbakumuyour Lordٱلَّذِي alladhithe One Whoخَلَقَكُم khalaqakumcreated youمِّن minfromنَّفۡسٖ nafsina soulوَٰحِدَةٖ wahidatinsingleوَخَلَقَ wakhalaqaand createdمِنۡهَا min'hafrom itزَوۡجَهَا zawjahaits mateوَبَثَّ wabathaand dispersedمِنۡهُمَا min'humafrom both of themرِجَالٗا rijalanmenكَثِيرٗا kathiranmanyوَنِسَآءٗۚ wanisaanand womenوَٱتَّقُواْ wa-ittaquAnd fearٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahٱلَّذِي alladhi(through) Whomتَسَآءَلُونَ tasaalunayou askبِهِۦ bihi[with it]وَٱلۡأَرۡحَامَۚ wal-arhamaand the wombsإِنَّ innaIndeedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahكَانَ kanaisعَلَيۡكُمۡ alaykumover youرَقِيبٗا raqibanEver-Watchful
TRANSLITERATION
yaayyuha al-nasu ittaqu rabbakumu alladhi khalaqakum min nafsin wahidatin wakhalaqa min'ha zawjaha wabatha min'huma rijalan kathiran wanisaan wa-ittaqu al-laha alladhi tasaaluna bihi wal-arhama inna al-laha kana alaykum raqiban
English - Sahih International
O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed Allah is ever, over you, an Observer.
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
وَءَاتُواْ waatuAnd giveٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰٓ al-yatama(to) the orphansأَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡۖ amwalahumtheir wealthوَلَا walaand (do) notتَتَبَدَّلُواْ tatabaddaluexchangeٱلۡخَبِيثَ al-khabithathe badبِٱلطَّيِّبِۖ bil-tayibiwith the goodوَلَا walaand (do) notتَأۡكُلُوٓاْ takuluconsumeأَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ amwalahumtheir wealthإِلَىٰٓ ilawithأَمۡوَٰلِكُمۡۚ amwalikumyour wealthإِنَّهُۥ innahuIndeed itكَانَ kanaisحُوبٗا hubana sinكَبِيرٗا kabirangreat
TRANSLITERATION
waatu al-yatama amwalahum wala tatabaddalu al-khabitha bil-tayibi wala takulu amwalahum ila amwalikum innahu kana huban kabiran
English - Sahih International
And give to the orphans their properties and do not substitute the defective [of your own] for the good [of theirs]. And do not consume their properties into your own. Indeed, that is ever a great sin.
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
وَإِنۡ wa-inAnd ifخِفۡتُمۡ khif'tumyou fearأَلَّا allathat notتُقۡسِطُواْ tuq'situyou will be able to do justiceفِي fiwithٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ al-yatamathe orphansفَٱنكِحُواْ fa-inkihuthen marryمَا mawhatطَابَ tabaseems suitableلَكُم lakumto youمِّنَ minafromٱلنِّسَآءِ al-nisaithe womenمَثۡنَىٰ mathnatwoوَثُلَٰثَ wathulathaor threeوَرُبَٰعَۖ waruba'aor fourفَإِنۡ fa-inBut ifخِفۡتُمۡ khif'tumyou fearأَلَّا allathat notتَعۡدِلُواْ ta'diluyou can do justiceفَوَٰحِدَةً fawahidatanthen (marry) oneأَوۡ aworمَا mawhatمَلَكَتۡ malakatpossessesأَيۡمَٰنُكُمۡۚ aymanukumyour right handذَٰلِكَ dhalikaThatأَدۡنَىٰٓ adna(is) more appropriateأَلَّا allathat (may) notتَعُولُواْ ta'uluyou oppress
TRANSLITERATION
wa-in khif'tum alla tuq'situ fi al-yatama fa-inkihu ma taba lakum mina al-nisai mathna wathulatha waruba'a fa-in khif'tum alla ta'dilu fawahidatan aw ma malakat aymanukum dhalika adna alla ta'ulu
English - Sahih International
And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline [to injustice].
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
وَءَاتُواْ waatuAnd giveٱلنِّسَآءَ al-nisaathe womenصَدُقَٰتِهِنَّ saduqatihinnatheir dowerنِحۡلَةٗۚ nih'latangraciouslyفَإِن fa-inBut ifطِبۡنَ tib'nathey remitلَكُمۡ lakumto youعَن anofشَيۡءٖ shayinanythingمِّنۡهُ min'huof itنَفۡسٗا nafsan(on their) ownفَكُلُوهُ fakuluhuthen eat itهَنِيٓـٔٗا hanian(in) satisfactionمَّرِيٓـٔٗا marian(and) ease
TRANSLITERATION
waatu al-nisaa saduqatihinna nih'latan fa-in tib'na lakum an shayin min'hu nafsan fakuluhu hanian marian
English - Sahih International
And give the women [upon marriage] their [bridal] gifts graciously. But if they give up willingly to you anything of it, then take it in satisfaction and ease.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
وَلَا walaAnd (do) notتُؤۡتُواْ tu'tugiveٱلسُّفَهَآءَ al-sufahaathe foolishأَمۡوَٰلَكُمُ amwalakumuyour wealthٱلَّتِي allatiwhichجَعَلَ ja'ala(was) madeٱللَّهُ al-lahu(by) Allahلَكُمۡ lakumfor youقِيَٰمٗا qiyamana means of supportوَٱرۡزُقُوهُمۡ wa-ur'zuquhum(but) provide (for) themفِيهَا fihawith itوَٱكۡسُوهُمۡ wa-ik'suhumand clothe themوَقُولُواْ waquluand speakلَهُمۡ lahumto themقَوۡلٗا qawlanwordsمَّعۡرُوفٗا ma'rufan(of) kindness
TRANSLITERATION
wala tu'tu al-sufahaa amwalakumu allati ja'ala al-lahu lakum qiyaman wa-ur'zuquhum fiha wa-ik'suhum waqulu lahum qawlan ma'rufan
English - Sahih International
And do not give the weak-minded your property, which Allah has made a means of sustenance for you, but provide for them with it and clothe them and speak to them words of appropriate kindness.
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
وَٱبۡتَلُواْ wa-ib'taluAnd testٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ al-yatamathe orphansحَتَّىٰٓ hattauntilإِذَا idha[when]بَلَغُواْ balaghuthey reach[ed]ٱلنِّكَاحَ al-nikaha(the age of) marriageفَإِنۡ fa-inthen ifءَانَسۡتُم anastumyou perceiveمِّنۡهُمۡ min'humin themرُشۡدٗا rush'dansound judgementفَٱدۡفَعُوٓاْ fa-id'fa'uthen deliverإِلَيۡهِمۡ ilayhimto themأَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡۖ amwalahumtheir wealthوَلَا walaAnd (do) notتَأۡكُلُوهَآ takuluhaeat itإِسۡرَافٗا is'rafanextravagantlyوَبِدَارًا wabidaranand hastilyأَن an(fearing) thatيَكۡبَرُواْۚ yakbaruthey will grow upوَمَن wamanAnd whoeverكَانَ kanaisغَنِيّٗا ghaniyyanrichفَلۡيَسۡتَعۡفِفۡۖ falyasta'fifthen he should refrainوَمَن wamanand whoeverكَانَ kanaisفَقِيرٗا faqiranpoorفَلۡيَأۡكُلۡ falyakulthen let him eat (of it)بِٱلۡمَعۡرُوفِۚ bil-ma'rufiin a fair mannerفَإِذَا fa-idhaThen whenدَفَعۡتُمۡ dafa'tumyou deliverإِلَيۡهِمۡ ilayhimto themأَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ amwalahumtheir wealthفَأَشۡهِدُواْ fa-ashhiduthen take witnessesعَلَيۡهِمۡۚ alayhimon themوَكَفَىٰ wakafaAnd is sufficientبِٱللَّهِ bil-lahiAllahحَسِيبٗا hasiban(as) a Reckoner
TRANSLITERATION
wa-ib'talu al-yatama hatta idha balaghu al-nikaha fa-in anastum min'hum rush'dan fa-id'fa'u ilayhim amwalahum wala takuluha is'rafan wabidaran an yakbaru waman kana ghaniyyan falyasta'fif waman kana faqiran falyakul bil-ma'rufi fa-idha dafa'tum ilayhim amwalahum fa-ashhidu alayhim wakafa bil-lahi hasiban
English - Sahih International
And test the orphans [in their abilities] until they reach marriageable age. Then if you perceive in them sound judgement, release their property to them. And do not consume it excessively and quickly, [anticipating] that they will grow up. And whoever, [when acting as guardian], is self-sufficient should refrain [from taking a fee]; and whoever is poor - let him take according to what is acceptable. Then when you release their property to them, bring witnesses upon them. And sufficient is Allah as Accountant.

Ayah 7 Play Ayah
لِّلرِّجَالِ lilrrijaliFor the menنَصِيبٞ nasibuna portionمِّمَّا mimmaof whatتَرَكَ taraka(is) leftٱلۡوَٰلِدَانِ al-walidani(by) the parentsوَٱلۡأَقۡرَبُونَ wal-aqrabunaand the near relativesوَلِلنِّسَآءِ walilnnisaiand for the womenنَصِيبٞ nasibuna portionمِّمَّا mimmaof whatتَرَكَ taraka(is) leftٱلۡوَٰلِدَانِ al-walidani(by) parentsوَٱلۡأَقۡرَبُونَ wal-aqrabunaand the near relativesمِمَّا mimmaof whatقَلَّ qalla(is) littleمِنۡهُ min'huof itأَوۡ aworكَثُرَۚ kathuramuchنَصِيبٗا nasibana portionمَّفۡرُوضٗا mafrudanobligatory
TRANSLITERATION
lilrrijali nasibun mimma taraka al-walidani wal-aqrabuna walilnnisai nasibun mimma taraka al-walidani wal-aqrabuna mimma qalla min'hu aw kathura nasiban mafrudan
English - Sahih International
For men is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, and for women is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, be it little or much - an obligatory share.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
وَإِذَا wa-idhaAnd whenحَضَرَ hadarapresentٱلۡقِسۡمَةَ al-qis'mata(at) the (time of) divisionأُوْلُواْ ulu(of)ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ al-qur'bathe relativesوَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ wal-yatamaand the orphansوَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينُ wal-masakinuand the poorفَٱرۡزُقُوهُم fa-ur'zuquhumthen provide themمِّنۡهُ min'hufrom itوَقُولُواْ waquluand speakلَهُمۡ lahumto themقَوۡلٗا qawlanwordsمَّعۡرُوفٗا ma'rufan(of) kindness
TRANSLITERATION
wa-idha hadara al-qis'mata ulu al-qur'ba wal-yatama wal-masakinu fa-ur'zuquhum min'hu waqulu lahum qawlan ma'rufan
English - Sahih International
And when [other] relatives and orphans and the needy are present at the [time of] division, then provide for them [something] out of the estate and speak to them words of appropriate kindness.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
وَلۡيَخۡشَ walyakhshaAnd let fearٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoلَوۡ lawifتَرَكُواْ tarakuthey leftمِنۡ minfromخَلۡفِهِمۡ khalfihimbehindذُرِّيَّةٗ dhurriyyatanoffspringضِعَٰفًا di'afanweakخَافُواْ khafu(and) they would have fearedعَلَيۡهِمۡ alayhimabout themفَلۡيَتَّقُواْ falyattaquSo let them fearٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahوَلۡيَقُولُواْ walyaquluand let them speakقَوۡلٗا qawlanwordsسَدِيدًا sadidanappropriate
TRANSLITERATION
walyakhsha alladhina law taraku min khalfihim dhurriyyatan di'afan khafu alayhim falyattaqu al-laha walyaqulu qawlan sadidan
English - Sahih International
And let those [executors and guardians] fear [injustice] as if they [themselves] had left weak offspring behind and feared for them. So let them fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
إِنَّ innaIndeedٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoيَأۡكُلُونَ yakulunaconsumeأَمۡوَٰلَ amwalawealthٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ al-yatama(of) the orphansظُلۡمًا zul'manwrongfullyإِنَّمَا innamaonlyيَأۡكُلُونَ yakulunathey consumeفِي fiinبُطُونِهِمۡ butunihimtheir belliesنَارٗاۖ naranfireوَسَيَصۡلَوۡنَ wasayaslawnaand they will be burnedسَعِيرٗا sa'iran(in) a Blazing Fire
TRANSLITERATION
inna alladhina yakuluna amwala al-yatama zul'man innama yakuluna fi butunihim naran wasayaslawna sa'iran
English - Sahih International
Indeed, those who devour the property of orphans unjustly are only consuming into their bellies fire. And they will be burned in a Blaze.
