Ayah 1 Play Ayah
الٓمٓرۚ alif-lam-meem-raAlif Laam Mim Raتِلۡكَ til'kaTheseءَايَٰتُ ayatu(are) the Versesٱلۡكِتَٰبِۗ al-kitabi(of) the Bookوَٱلَّذِيٓ wa-alladhiAnd that whichأُنزِلَ unzilahas been revealedإِلَيۡكَ ilaykato youمِن minfromرَّبِّكَ rabbikayour Lordٱلۡحَقُّ al-haqu(is) the truthوَلَٰكِنَّ walakinnabutأَكۡثَرَ aktharamostٱلنَّاسِ al-nasi(of) the mankindلَا la(do) notيُؤۡمِنُونَ yu'minunabelieve
TRANSLITERATION
alif-lam-meem-ra til'ka ayatu al-kitabi wa-alladhi unzila ilayka min rabbika al-haqu walakinna akthara al-nasi la yu'minuna
English - Sahih International
Alif, Lam, Meem, Ra. These are the verses of the Book; and what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, but most of the people do not believe.
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
ٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahٱلَّذِي alladhi(is) the One Whoرَفَعَ rafa'araisedٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ al-samawatithe heavensبِغَيۡرِ bighayriwithoutعَمَدٖ amadinpillarsتَرَوۡنَهَاۖ tarawnahathat you seeثُمَّ thummathenٱسۡتَوَىٰ is'tawaHe establishedعَلَى alaonٱلۡعَرۡشِۖ al-'arshithe Throneوَسَخَّرَ wasakharaand subjectedٱلشَّمۡسَ al-shamsathe sunوَٱلۡقَمَرَۖ wal-qamaraand the moonكُلّٞ kulluneachيَجۡرِي yajrirunningلِأَجَلٖ li-ajalinfor a termمُّسَمّٗىۚ musammanappointedيُدَبِّرُ yudabbiruHe arrangesٱلۡأَمۡرَ al-amrathe matterيُفَصِّلُ yufassiluHe detailsٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ al-ayatithe Signsلَعَلَّكُم la'allakumso that you mayبِلِقَآءِ biliqaiin the meetingرَبِّكُمۡ rabbikum(with) your Lordتُوقِنُونَ tuqinunabelieve with certainty
TRANSLITERATION
al-lahu alladhi rafa'a al-samawati bighayri amadin tarawnaha thumma is'tawa ala al-'arshi wasakhara al-shamsa wal-qamara kullun yajri li-ajalin musamman yudabbiru al-amra yufassilu al-ayati la'allakum biliqai rabbikum tuqinuna
English - Sahih International
It is Allah who erected the heavens without pillars that you [can] see; then He established Himself above the Throne and made subject the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term. He arranges [each] matter; He details the signs that you may, of the meeting with your Lord, be certain.
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
وَهُوَ wahuwaAnd Heٱلَّذِي alladhi(is) the One Whoمَدَّ maddaspreadٱلۡأَرۡضَ al-ardathe earthوَجَعَلَ waja'alaand placedفِيهَا fihain itرَوَٰسِيَ rawasiyafirm mountainsوَأَنۡهَٰرٗاۖ wa-anharanand riversوَمِن waminand fromكُلِّ kulliallٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ al-thamarati(of) the fruitsجَعَلَ ja'alaHe madeفِيهَا fihain itزَوۡجَيۡنِ zawjaynipairsٱثۡنَيۡنِۖ ith'naynitwoيُغۡشِي yugh'shiHe coversٱلَّيۡلَ al-laylathe nightٱلنَّهَارَۚ al-nahara(with) the dayإِنَّ innaIndeedفِي fiinذَٰلِكَ dhalikathatلَأٓيَٰتٖ laayatinsurely (are) Signsلِّقَوۡمٖ liqawminfor a peopleيَتَفَكَّرُونَ yatafakkarunawho ponder
TRANSLITERATION
wahuwa alladhi madda al-arda waja'ala fiha rawasiya wa-anharan wamin kulli al-thamarati ja'ala fiha zawjayni ith'nayni yugh'shi al-layla al-nahara inna fi dhalika laayatin liqawmin yatafakkaruna
English - Sahih International
And it is He who spread the earth and placed therein firmly set mountains and rivers; and from all of the fruits He made therein two mates; He causes the night to cover the day. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
وَفِي wafiAnd inٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardithe earthقِطَعٞ qita'unare tracksمُّتَجَٰوِرَٰتٞ mutajawiratunneighboringوَجَنَّـٰتٞ wajannatunand gardensمِّنۡ minofأَعۡنَٰبٖ a'nabingrapevinesوَزَرۡعٞ wazar'unand cropsوَنَخِيلٞ wanakhilunand date-palmsصِنۡوَانٞ sin'wanuntrees (growing) from a single rootوَغَيۡرُ waghayruand notصِنۡوَانٖ sin'wanintrees (growing) from a single rootيُسۡقَىٰ yus'qawateredبِمَآءٖ bimainwith waterوَٰحِدٖ wahidinoneوَنُفَضِّلُ wanufaddilubut We cause to exceedبَعۡضَهَا ba'dahasome of themعَلَىٰ alaoverبَعۡضٖ ba'dinothersفِي fiinٱلۡأُكُلِۚ al-ukulithe fruitإِنَّ innaIndeedفِي fiinذَٰلِكَ dhalikathatلَأٓيَٰتٖ laayatinsurely (are) Signsلِّقَوۡمٖ liqawminfor a peopleيَعۡقِلُونَ ya'qilunawho use reason
TRANSLITERATION
wafi al-ardi qita'un mutajawiratun wajannatun min a'nabin wazar'un wanakhilun sin'wanun waghayru sin'wanin yus'qa bimain wahidin wanufaddilu ba'daha ala ba'din fi al-ukuli inna fi dhalika laayatin liqawmin ya'qiluna
English - Sahih International
And within the land are neighboring plots and gardens of grapevines and crops and palm trees, [growing] several from a root or otherwise, watered with one water; but We make some of them exceed others in [quality of] fruit. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
۞وَإِن wa-inAnd ifتَعۡجَبۡ ta'jabyou (are) astonishedفَعَجَبٞ fa'ajabunthen astonishingقَوۡلُهُمۡ qawluhum(is) their sayingأَءِذَا a-idhaWhenكُنَّا kunnawe areتُرَٰبًا turabandustأَءِنَّا a-innawill weلَفِي lafi(be) indeed inخَلۡقٖ khalqina creationجَدِيدٍۗ jadidinnewأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ulaikaThoseٱلَّذِينَ alladhina(are) the ones whoكَفَرُواْ kafarudisbelievedبِرَبِّهِمۡۖ birabbihimin their Lordوَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ wa-ulaikaand thoseٱلۡأَغۡلَٰلُ al-aghlaluthe iron chainsفِيٓ fi(will be) inأَعۡنَاقِهِمۡۖ a'naqihimtheir necksوَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ wa-ulaikathoseأَصۡحَٰبُ ashabu(are the) companionsٱلنَّارِۖ al-nari(of) the Fireهُمۡ humtheyفِيهَا fihain itخَٰلِدُونَ khaliduna(will) abide forever
TRANSLITERATION
wa-in ta'jab fa'ajabun qawluhum a-idha kunna turaban a-inna lafi khalqin jadidin ulaika alladhina kafaru birabbihim wa-ulaika al-aghlalu fi a'naqihim wa-ulaika ashabu al-nari hum fiha khaliduna
English - Sahih International
And if you are astonished, [O Muhammad] - then astonishing is their saying, "When we are dust, will we indeed be [brought] into a new creation?" Those are the ones who have disbelieved in their Lord, and those will have shackles upon their necks, and those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.

Ayah 6 Play Ayah
وَيَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَكَ wayasta'jilunakaAnd they ask you to hastenبِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ bil-sayi-atithe evilقَبۡلَ qablabeforeٱلۡحَسَنَةِ al-hasanatithe goodوَقَدۡ waqadand verilyخَلَتۡ khalathas occurredمِن minfromقَبۡلِهِمُ qablihimubefore themٱلۡمَثُلَٰتُۗ al-mathulatu[the] similar punishmentsوَإِنَّ wa-innaAnd indeedرَبَّكَ rabbakayour Lordلَذُو ladhu(is) fullمَغۡفِرَةٖ maghfiratin(of) forgivenessلِّلنَّاسِ lilnnasifor mankindعَلَىٰ alaforظُلۡمِهِمۡۖ zul'mihimtheir wrongdoingوَإِنَّ wa-innaand indeedرَبَّكَ rabbakayour Lordلَشَدِيدُ lashadidu(is) severeٱلۡعِقَابِ al-'iqabi(in) the penalty
TRANSLITERATION
wayasta'jilunaka bil-sayi-ati qabla al-hasanati waqad khalat min qablihimu al-mathulatu wa-inna rabbaka ladhu maghfiratin lilnnasi ala zul'mihim wa-inna rabbaka lashadidu al-'iqabi
English - Sahih International
They impatiently urge you to bring about evil before good, while there has already occurred before them similar punishments [to what they demand]. And indeed, your Lord is full of forgiveness for the people despite their wrongdoing, and indeed, your Lord is severe in penalty.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
وَيَقُولُ wayaquluAnd sayٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoكَفَرُواْ kafarudisbelievedلَوۡلَآ lawlaWhy notأُنزِلَ unzilahas been sent downعَلَيۡهِ alayhito himءَايَةٞ ayatuna signمِّن minfromرَّبِّهِۦٓۗ rabbihihis Lordإِنَّمَآ innamaOnlyأَنتَ antayouمُنذِرٞۖ mundhirun(are) a warnerوَلِكُلِّ walikulliand for everyقَوۡمٍ qawminpeopleهَادٍ hadin(is) a guide
TRANSLITERATION
wayaqulu alladhina kafaru lawla unzila alayhi ayatun min rabbihi innama anta mundhirun walikulli qawmin hadin
English - Sahih International
And those who disbelieved say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" You are only a warner, and for every people is a guide.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
ٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahيَعۡلَمُ ya'lamuknowsمَا mawhatتَحۡمِلُ tahmilucarriesكُلُّ kullueveryأُنثَىٰ unthafemaleوَمَا wamaand whatتَغِيضُ taghidufall shortٱلۡأَرۡحَامُ al-arhamuthe wombوَمَا wamaand whatتَزۡدَادُۚ tazdaduthey exceedوَكُلُّ wakulluAnd everyشَيۡءٍ shayinthingعِندَهُۥ indahuwith Himبِمِقۡدَارٍ bimiq'darin(is) in due proportion
TRANSLITERATION
al-lahu ya'lamu ma tahmilu kullu untha wama taghidu al-arhamu wama tazdadu wakullu shayin indahu bimiq'darin
English - Sahih International
Allah knows what every female carries and what the wombs lose [prematurely] or exceed. And everything with Him is by due measure.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
عَٰلِمُ alimuKnowerٱلۡغَيۡبِ al-ghaybi(of) the unseenوَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ wal-shahadatiand the witnessedٱلۡكَبِيرُ al-kabiruthe Most Greatٱلۡمُتَعَالِ al-muta'alithe Most High
TRANSLITERATION
alimu al-ghaybi wal-shahadati al-kabiru al-muta'ali
English - Sahih International
[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Grand, the Exalted.
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
سَوَآءٞ sawaon(It is) same (to Him)مِّنكُم minkum[of you]مَّنۡ man(one) whoأَسَرَّ asarraconcealsٱلۡقَوۡلَ al-qawlathe speechوَمَن wamanor (one) whoجَهَرَ jaharapublicizesبِهِۦ bihiitوَمَنۡ wamanand (one) whoهُوَ huwa[he]مُسۡتَخۡفِۭ mus'takhfin(is) hiddenبِٱلَّيۡلِ bi-al-layliby nightوَسَارِبُۢ wasaribunor goes freelyبِٱلنَّهَارِ bil-nahariby day
TRANSLITERATION
sawaon minkum man asarra al-qawla waman jahara bihi waman huwa mus'takhfin bi-al-layli wasaribun bil-nahari
English - Sahih International
It is the same [to Him] concerning you whether one conceals [his] speech or one publicizes it and whether one is hidden by night or conspicuous [among others] by day.
Ar Ra'd / الرعد / The Thunder
