Ayah 1 Play Ayah
الٓرۚ alif-lam-raAlif Laam Raكِتَٰبٌ kitabunA Bookأَنزَلۡنَٰهُ anzalnahuwhich We have revealedإِلَيۡكَ ilaykato youلِتُخۡرِجَ litukh'rijaso that you may bring outٱلنَّاسَ al-nasathe mankindمِنَ minafromٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ al-zulumatithe darkness[es]إِلَى ilatoٱلنُّورِ al-nurithe lightبِإِذۡنِ bi-idh'niby the permissionرَبِّهِمۡ rabbihim(of) their Lordإِلَىٰ ilatoصِرَٰطِ siratithe Pathٱلۡعَزِيزِ al-'azizi(of) the All-Mightyٱلۡحَمِيدِ al-hamidithe Praiseworthy
TRANSLITERATION
alif-lam-ra kitabun anzalnahu ilayka litukh'rija al-nasa mina al-zulumati ila al-nuri bi-idh'ni rabbihim ila sirati al-'azizi al-hamidi
English - Sahih International
Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy -
Ayah 2 Play Ayah
ٱللَّهِ al-lahiAllahٱلَّذِي alladhi(is) the Oneلَهُۥ lahuto Him (belongs)مَا mawhateverفِي fi(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ al-samawatithe heavensوَمَا wamaand whateverفِي fi(is) inٱلۡأَرۡضِۗ al-ardithe earthوَوَيۡلٞ wawaylunAnd woeلِّلۡكَٰفِرِينَ lil'kafirinato the disbelieversمِنۡ minfromعَذَابٖ adhabinthe punishmentشَدِيدٍ shadidinsevere
TRANSLITERATION
al-lahi alladhi lahu ma fi al-samawati wama fi al-ardi wawaylun lil'kafirina min adhabin shadidin
English - Sahih International
Allah, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And woe to the disbelievers from a severe punishment
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhinaThose whoيَسۡتَحِبُّونَ yastahibbunalove moreٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ al-hayatathe lifeٱلدُّنۡيَا al-dun'ya(of) the worldعَلَى alathanٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ al-akhiratithe Hereafterوَيَصُدُّونَ wayasuddunaand hinderعَن anfromسَبِيلِ sabili(the) Pathٱللَّهِ al-lahi(of) Allahوَيَبۡغُونَهَا wayabghunahaand seek in itعِوَجًاۚ iwajancrookednessأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ulaikathoseفِي fi[in]ضَلَٰلِۭ dalalin(are) far astrayبَعِيدٖ ba'idin(are) far astray
TRANSLITERATION
alladhina yastahibbuna al-hayata al-dun'ya ala al-akhirati wayasudduna an sabili al-lahi wayabghunaha iwajan ulaika fi dalalin ba'idin
English - Sahih International
The ones who prefer the worldly life over the Hereafter and avert [people] from the way of Allah, seeking to make it (seem) deviant. Those are in extreme error.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
وَمَآ wamaAnd notأَرۡسَلۡنَا arsalnaWe sentمِن minanyرَّسُولٍ rasulinMessengerإِلَّا illaexceptبِلِسَانِ bilisaniwith the languageقَوۡمِهِۦ qawmihi(of) his peopleلِيُبَيِّنَ liyubayyinaso that he might make clearلَهُمۡۖ lahumfor themفَيُضِلُّ fayudilluThen lets go astrayٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahمَن manwhomيَشَآءُ yashauHe willsوَيَهۡدِي wayahdiand guidesمَن manwhomيَشَآءُۚ yashauHe willsوَهُوَ wahuwaAnd Heٱلۡعَزِيزُ al-'azizu(is) the All-Mightyٱلۡحَكِيمُ al-hakimuthe All-Wise
TRANSLITERATION
wama arsalna min rasulin illa bilisani qawmihi liyubayyina lahum fayudillu al-lahu man yashau wayahdi man yashau wahuwa al-'azizu al-hakimu
English - Sahih International
And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
وَلَقَدۡ walaqadAnd verilyأَرۡسَلۡنَا arsalnaWe sentمُوسَىٰ musaMusaبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ biayatinawith Our Signsأَنۡ anthatأَخۡرِجۡ akhrijBring outقَوۡمَكَ qawmakayour peopleمِنَ minafromٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ al-zulumatithe darkness[es]إِلَى ilatoٱلنُّورِ al-nurithe lightوَذَكِّرۡهُم wadhakkir'humAnd remind themبِأَيَّىٰمِ bi-ayyamiof the daysٱللَّهِۚ al-lahi(of) Allahإِنَّ innaIndeedفِي fiinذَٰلِكَ dhalikathatلَأٓيَٰتٖ laayatinsurely (are) the signsلِّكُلِّ likullifor everyoneصَبَّارٖ sabbarinpatientشَكُورٖ shakurinand thankful
TRANSLITERATION
walaqad arsalna musa biayatina an akhrij qawmaka mina al-zulumati ila al-nuri wadhakkir'hum bi-ayyami al-lahi inna fi dhalika laayatin likulli sabbarin shakurin
English - Sahih International
And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs, [saying], "Bring out your people from darknesses into the light and remind them of the days of Allah." Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.

Ayah 6 Play Ayah
وَإِذۡ wa-idhAnd whenقَالَ qalasaidمُوسَىٰ musaMusaلِقَوۡمِهِ liqawmihito his peopleٱذۡكُرُواْ udh'kuruRememberنِعۡمَةَ ni'mata(the) Favor of Allahٱللَّهِ al-lahi(the) Favor of Allahعَلَيۡكُمۡ alaykumupon youإِذۡ idhwhenأَنجَىٰكُم anjakumHe saved youمِّنۡ minfromءَالِ ali(the) peopleفِرۡعَوۡنَ fir'awna(of) Firaunيَسُومُونَكُمۡ yasumunakumthey were afflicting youسُوٓءَ sua(with) evilٱلۡعَذَابِ al-'adhabitormentوَيُذَبِّحُونَ wayudhabbihunaand were slaughteringأَبۡنَآءَكُمۡ abnaakumyour sonsوَيَسۡتَحۡيُونَ wayastahyunaand letting liveنِسَآءَكُمۡۚ nisaakumyour womenوَفِي wafiAnd inذَٰلِكُم dhalikumthatبَلَآءٞ balaon(was) a trialمِّن minfromرَّبِّكُمۡ rabbikumyour Lordعَظِيمٞ azimungreat
TRANSLITERATION
wa-idh qala musa liqawmihi udh'kuru ni'mata al-lahi alaykum idh anjakum min ali fir'awna yasumunakum sua al-'adhabi wayudhabbihuna abnaakum wayastahyuna nisaakum wafi dhalikum balaon min rabbikum azimun
English - Sahih International
And [recall, O Children of Israel], when Moses said to His people, "Remember the favor of Allah upon you when He saved you from the people of Pharaoh, who were afflicting you with the worst torment and were slaughtering your [newborn] sons and keeping your females alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord.
Ayah 7 Play Ayah
وَإِذۡ wa-idhAnd whenتَأَذَّنَ ta-adhanaproclaimedرَبُّكُمۡ rabbukumyour Lordلَئِن la-inIfشَكَرۡتُمۡ shakartumyou are thankfulلَأَزِيدَنَّكُمۡۖ la-azidannakumsurely I will increase youوَلَئِن wala-inbut ifكَفَرۡتُمۡ kafartumyou are ungratefulإِنَّ innaindeedعَذَابِي adhabiMy punishmentلَشَدِيدٞ lashadidun(is) surely severe
TRANSLITERATION
wa-idh ta-adhana rabbukum la-in shakartum la-azidannakum wala-in kafartum inna adhabi lashadidun
English - Sahih International
And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.' "
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
وَقَالَ waqalaAnd saidمُوسَىٰٓ musaMusaإِن inIfتَكۡفُرُوٓاْ takfuruyou disbelieveأَنتُمۡ antumyouوَمَن wamanand whoeverفِي fi(is) inٱلۡأَرۡضِ al-ardithe earthجَمِيعٗا jami'anallفَإِنَّ fa-innathen indeedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahلَغَنِيٌّ laghaniyyuncertainly (is) Free of needحَمِيدٌ hamidunPraiseworthy
TRANSLITERATION
waqala musa in takfuru antum waman fi al-ardi jami'an fa-inna al-laha laghaniyyun hamidun
English - Sahih International
And Moses said, "If you should disbelieve, you and whoever is on the earth entirely - indeed, Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy."
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
أَلَمۡ alamHas notيَأۡتِكُمۡ yatikumcome to youنَبَؤُاْ naba-u(the) newsٱلَّذِينَ alladhina(of) those whoمِن min(were) before youقَبۡلِكُمۡ qablikum(were) before youقَوۡمِ qawmithe peopleنُوحٖ nuhinof Nuhوَعَادٖ wa'adinand Aadوَثَمُودَ wathamudaand Thamudوَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhinaand those whoمِنۢ min(were) after themبَعۡدِهِمۡ ba'dihim(were) after themلَا laNoneيَعۡلَمُهُمۡ ya'lamuhumknows themإِلَّا illaexceptٱللَّهُۚ al-lahuAllahجَآءَتۡهُمۡ jaathumCame to themرُسُلُهُم rusuluhumtheir Messengersبِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ bil-bayinatiwith clear proofsفَرَدُّوٓاْ faraddubut they returnedأَيۡدِيَهُمۡ aydiyahumtheir handsفِيٓ fiinأَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡ afwahihimtheir mouthsوَقَالُوٓاْ waqaluand they saidإِنَّا innaindeed, weكَفَرۡنَا kafarna[we] disbelieveبِمَآ bimain whatأُرۡسِلۡتُم ur'sil'tumyou have been sentبِهِۦ bihiwith [it]وَإِنَّا wa-innaand indeed, weلَفِي lafi(are) surely inشَكّٖ shakkindoubtمِّمَّا mimmaabout whatتَدۡعُونَنَآ tad'unanayou invite usإِلَيۡهِ ilayhito itمُرِيبٖ muribinsuspicious
TRANSLITERATION
alam yatikum naba-u alladhina min qablikum qawmi nuhin wa'adin wathamuda wa-alladhina min ba'dihim la ya'lamuhum illa al-lahu jaathum rusuluhum bil-bayinati faraddu aydiyahum fi afwahihim waqalu inna kafarna bima ur'sil'tum bihi wa-inna lafi shakkin mimma tad'unana ilayhi muribin
English - Sahih International
Has there not reached you the news of those before you - the people of Noah and 'Aad and Thamud and those after them? No one knows them but Allah. Their messengers brought them clear proofs, but they returned their hands to their mouths and said, "Indeed, we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent, and indeed we are, about that to which you invite us, in disquieting doubt."
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
۞قَالَتۡ qalatSaidرُسُلُهُمۡ rusuluhumtheir Messengersأَفِي afiCan (there) be aboutٱللَّهِ al-lahiAllahشَكّٞ shakkunany doubtفَاطِرِ fatiri(the) Creatorٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ al-samawati(of) the heavensوَٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ wal-ardiand the earthيَدۡعُوكُمۡ yad'ukumHe invites youلِيَغۡفِرَ liyaghfiraso that He may forgiveلَكُم lakumfor youمِّن min[of]ذُنُوبِكُمۡ dhunubikumyour sinsوَيُؤَخِّرَكُمۡ wayu-akhirakumand give you respiteإِلَىٰٓ ilaforأَجَلٖ ajalina termمُّسَمّٗىۚ musammanappointedقَالُوٓاْ qaluThey saidإِنۡ inNotأَنتُمۡ antumyouإِلَّا illa(are) butبَشَرٞ basharuna humanمِّثۡلُنَا mith'lunalike usتُرِيدُونَ turidunayou wishأَن antoتَصُدُّونَا tasuddunahinder usعَمَّا ammafrom whatكَانَ kanaused toيَعۡبُدُ ya'buduworshipءَابَآؤُنَا abaunaour forefathersفَأۡتُونَا fatunaSo bring usبِسُلۡطَٰنٖ bisul'taninan authorityمُّبِينٖ mubininclear
TRANSLITERATION
qalat rusuluhum afi al-lahi shakkun fatiri al-samawati wal-ardi yad'ukum liyaghfira lakum min dhunubikum wayu-akhirakum ila ajalin musamman qalu in antum illa basharun mith'luna turiduna an tasudduna amma kana ya'budu abauna fatuna bisul'tanin mubinin
English - Sahih International
Their messengers said, "Can there be doubt about Allah, Creator of the heavens and earth? He invites you that He may forgive you of your sins, and He delays your death for a specified term." They said, "You are not but men like us who wish to avert us from what our fathers were worshipping. So bring us a clear authority."
