Ayah 2 Play Ayah
أَحَسِبَ ahasibaDo thinkٱلنَّاسُ al-nasuthe peopleأَن anthatيُتۡرَكُوٓاْ yut'rakuthey will be leftأَن anbecauseيَقُولُوٓاْ yaquluthey sayءَامَنَّا amannaWe believeوَهُمۡ wahumand theyلَا lawill not (be tested)يُفۡتَنُونَ yuf'tanuna(will not) be testedﰁ
TRANSLITERATION
ahasiba al-nasu an yut'raku an yaqulu amanna wahum la yuf'tanuna
English - Sahih International
Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried?
Ayah 3 Play Ayah
وَلَقَدۡ walaqadAnd indeedفَتَنَّا fatannaWe testedٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoمِن min(were) before themقَبۡلِهِمۡۖ qablihim(were) before themفَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ falaya'lamannaAnd will surely make evidentٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoصَدَقُواْ sadaqu(are) truthfulوَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ walaya'lamannaand will surely make evidentٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ al-kadhibinathe liarsﰂ
TRANSLITERATION
walaqad fatanna alladhina min qablihim falaya'lamanna al-lahu alladhina sadaqu walaya'lamanna al-kadhibina
English - Sahih International
But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.
Ayah 4 Play Ayah
أَمۡ amOrحَسِبَ hasibathinkٱلَّذِينَ alladhinathose whoيَعۡمَلُونَ ya'malunadoٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ al-sayiatievil deedsأَن anthatيَسۡبِقُونَاۚ yasbiqunathey can outrun Usسَآءَ saaEvil isمَا mawhatيَحۡكُمُونَ yahkumunathey judgeﰃ
TRANSLITERATION
am hasiba alladhina ya'maluna al-sayiati an yasbiquna saa ma yahkumuna
English - Sahih International
Or do those who do evil deeds think they can outrun Us? Evil is what they judge.
Ayah 5 Play Ayah
مَن manWhoeverكَانَ kana[is]يَرۡجُواْ yarjuhopesلِقَآءَ liqaa(for the) meetingٱللَّهِ al-lahi(with) Allahفَإِنَّ fa-innathen indeedأَجَلَ ajala(the) Termٱللَّهِ al-lahi(of) Allahلَأٓتٖۚ laatin(is) surely comingوَهُوَ wahuwaAnd Heٱلسَّمِيعُ al-sami'u(is) the All-Hearerٱلۡعَلِيمُ al-'alimuthe All-Knowerﰄ
TRANSLITERATION
man kana yarju liqaa al-lahi fa-inna ajala al-lahi laatin wahuwa al-sami'u al-'alimu
English - Sahih International
Whoever should hope for the meeting with Allah - indeed, the term decreed by Allah is coming. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
Ayah 6 Play Ayah
وَمَن wamanAnd whoeverجَٰهَدَ jahadastrivesفَإِنَّمَا fa-innamathen onlyيُجَٰهِدُ yujahiduhe strivesلِنَفۡسِهِۦٓۚ linafsihifor himselfإِنَّ innaIndeedٱللَّهَ al-lahaAllahلَغَنِيٌّ laghaniyyun(is) Free from needعَنِ aniofٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ al-'alaminathe worldsﰅ
TRANSLITERATION
waman jahada fa-innama yujahidu linafsihi inna al-laha laghaniyyun ani al-'alamina
English - Sahih International
And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.

Ayah 7 Play Ayah
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhinaAnd those whoءَامَنُواْ amanubelieveوَعَمِلُواْ wa'amiluand doٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ al-salihatirighteous (deeds)لَنُكَفِّرَنَّ lanukaffirannasurely We will removeعَنۡهُمۡ anhumfrom themسَيِّـَٔاتِهِمۡ sayyiatihimtheir evil deedsوَلَنَجۡزِيَنَّهُمۡ walanajziyannahumand We will surely reward themأَحۡسَنَ ahsana(the) bestٱلَّذِي alladhi(of) whatكَانُواْ kanuthey usedيَعۡمَلُونَ ya'maluna(to) doﰆ
TRANSLITERATION
wa-alladhina amanu wa'amilu al-salihati lanukaffiranna anhum sayyiatihim walanajziyannahum ahsana alladhi kanu ya'maluna
English - Sahih International
And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely remove from them their misdeeds and will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do.
Ayah 8 Play Ayah
وَوَصَّيۡنَا wawassaynaAnd We have enjoinedٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ al-insana(on) manبِوَٰلِدَيۡهِ biwalidayhigoodness to his parentsحُسۡنٗاۖ hus'nangoodness to his parentsوَإِن wa-inbut ifجَٰهَدَاكَ jahadakathey both strive against youلِتُشۡرِكَ litush'rikato make you associateبِي biwith Meمَا mawhatلَيۡسَ laysanotلَكَ lakayou haveبِهِۦ bihiof itعِلۡمٞ il'munany knowledgeفَلَا falathen (do) notتُطِعۡهُمَآۚ tuti'humaobey both of themإِلَيَّ ilayyaTo Meمَرۡجِعُكُمۡ marji'ukum(is) your returnفَأُنَبِّئُكُم fa-unabbi-ukumand I will inform youبِمَا bimaabout whatكُنتُمۡ kuntumyou usedتَعۡمَلُونَ ta'maluna(to) doﰇ
TRANSLITERATION
wawassayna al-insana biwalidayhi hus'nan wa-in jahadaka litush'rika bi ma laysa laka bihi il'mun fala tuti'huma ilayya marji'ukum fa-unabbi-ukum bima kuntum ta'maluna
English - Sahih International
And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do.
Ayah 9 Play Ayah
وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhinaAnd those whoءَامَنُواْ amanubelieveوَعَمِلُواْ wa'amiluand doٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ al-salihatirighteous deedsلَنُدۡخِلَنَّهُمۡ lanud'khilannahumWe will surely admit themفِي fiamongٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ al-salihinathe righteousﰈ
TRANSLITERATION
wa-alladhina amanu wa'amilu al-salihati lanud'khilannahum fi al-salihina
English - Sahih International
And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely admit them among the righteous [into Paradise].
Ayah 10 Play Ayah
وَمِنَ waminaAnd ofٱلنَّاسِ al-nasithe peopleمَن man(is he) whoيَقُولُ yaqulusaysءَامَنَّا amannaWe believeبِٱللَّهِ bil-lahiin Allahفَإِذَآ fa-idhaBut whenأُوذِيَ udhiyahe is harmedفِي fiinٱللَّهِ al-lahi(the Way of) Allahجَعَلَ ja'alahe considersفِتۡنَةَ fit'nata(the) trialٱلنَّاسِ al-nasi(of) the peopleكَعَذَابِ ka'adhabias (the) punishmentٱللَّهِۖ al-lahi(of) Allahوَلَئِن wala-inBut ifجَآءَ jaacomesنَصۡرٞ nasrunvictoryمِّن minfromرَّبِّكَ rabbikayour Lordلَيَقُولُنَّ layaqulunnasurely they sayإِنَّا innaIndeed, weكُنَّا kunnawereمَعَكُمۡۚ ma'akumwith youأَوَلَيۡسَ awalaysaIs notٱللَّهُ al-lahuAllahبِأَعۡلَمَ bi-a'lamamost knowingبِمَا bimaof whatفِي fi(is) inصُدُورِ suduri(the) breastsٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ al-'alamina(of) the worldsﰉ
TRANSLITERATION
wamina al-nasi man yaqulu amanna bil-lahi fa-idha udhiya fi al-lahi ja'ala fit'nata al-nasi ka'adhabi al-lahi wala-in jaa nasrun min rabbika layaqulunna inna kunna ma'akum awalaysa al-lahu bi-a'lama bima fi suduri al-'alamina
English - Sahih International
And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah," but when one [of them] is harmed for [the cause of] Allah, they consider the trial of the people as [if it were] the punishment of Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, they say, "Indeed, We were with you." Is not Allah most knowing of what is within the breasts of all creatures?
